    I've learned that the best electrolyte is either Sodium Hydroxide or Potassium Hydroxide.

    Baking soda will leave a brown crud in your fuel cells.

    Get sodium hydroxide at walmart, look for stuff near the "liquid plumber" called "Hair Clog Remover", it contains a mix of Sodium Hydroxide and Potassium Hydroxide.

    Use distilled water for best results, and only use Stainless Steel for your electrolyzer plates, any other type of metal will corrode.
