The Rafale is a French twin-engined delta-wing multi-role fighter aircraft designed and built by Dassault Aviation. The Rafale is being produced both for land-based use with the French Air Force and for carrier-based naval operation with the French Navy.

  • Typical Yank Arrogance

Hey, deputy and bigboyjoe--I've hung out with Armee de l'Air officers and they are as professional and passionate about flying as it gets... and their English is better than yours to boot. Don't go blaming the guys in uniform for bad historical decisions made by their political leadership. (If you do, just look at Dubya's popularity ratings at home over his little adventure in Iraq! Not fair fo blame the grunts on the ground for that one, is it?) The Dassault-Mirage line is just as respected around the world as Lockheed and McD-D products over the years. American design is very good, but it gets more than its due because you guys dislocate your shoulders giving yourselves pats on the back all the time! Would it kill you to admit that cutting-edge aircraft and engineering can happen elsewhere in the world?

    • Sounds like boy willie has a nerve that ...

Need I say more? The French run from every conflict, who needs them. Let the french run their own country while the unemployed and disanfranchised muslims destroy their own country from within.

Buy all the fighters you want, doesn't amount to anything.

  • The opportunity cost

With the cost of one of these you can build a dam...
With the new wars we must start to analyse the cost-benefit of dropping a bomb.
I mean there is no point in dropping a $250,000 bomb on a $5,000 truck... lol

  • Could

Do a bit better without those damn M88s... Those things are so horribly underpowered, it's not even funny. And there's no telling when the M88-3 is going to come online.

Rafale+CFTs+M88-3 is going to pwn the hell out of the Mirage 2000D & 200N.

  • Euro Fighter

Thats the Euro Fighter. Started out Being made by the British, French, Germans and I think Norway. The Germans and Norway dropped out and left the Brishish and French to make it, I also think that the French dropped out.

And there is a point in dropping a $250,000 bomb on a $5000 trunk if it means you win the war. Cost-benefit = $250,000-Freedom

    • are you for real

I disagree with your statement, the french and all the other european were told to come up with a design, when the french presented theirs, evrybody got cold feet. So the french army decidedto go with their design that they thougt to be more in tune with the competition out there. the fact is that the french design was judged too expensive, but the fact is that latetly mainly in afganistan, the allied troups on the ground sure appreciate that the French went with this designed

    • nobe, this is not 'Eurofighter'

France dropped out of the Eurofighter project in pursuit of their own aircraft - which turned out to be Rafale. EF and Rafale may look quite similar but they haven't got much in common.
there's much interesting stuff on RAFALE in Wikipedia
