  • so i just saw this

and im wondering... have you made any progress in harnessing this energy? or is it still in its baby steps

    • Working on it

I have several parties from around the world seriously discussing licensing, but it's not a done deal yet. Should be soon.

  • Off Pakistan's coastline

We are interested in developing a project off Pakistan's coastline. Is there some data that can help us initiate the needed studies and for defining the potential project's size and other parameters.

  • exellent idea

you say a large oil company has looked into it but they don't appear to have gone any further with it ,i assume you have done costings on the set up ,if so have you considered selling shares in getting the first 1 up and running .i for one would be interested in a few of those.

    By zynky 1230637327
    • Not for oil companies

The oil company that I worked with looked the system over very carefully, and ran two separate computer models, both of which confirmed that the system works, but they have not yet decided to pursue it.

This is not an advantage for oil companies if they're not selling oil and instead selling cheap electricity to replace it.

I can't foresee an oil company being one of the first to build a system like this. Their business is hydrocarbons, not electrons.

Currently I'm looking for licensees, and am not considering a public offering. That may change, but right now the main interest is to license it as broadly as possible.

  • Awesome mining

From what I know about hydrothermal vents, the mining should be awesome!

    • Mining Galore

Hydrothermal vents are the richest source of mineral wealth in the world. The best surface mines are located over hydrothermal veins, hydrothermal vents of the geologic past.

I'm sure you can imagine that I've never visited a hydrothermal vent, but studies have shown the fluid to be brimming with iron, gold, silver, copper, zinc, cadmium, manganese, and sulfur, along with significant amounts of methane gas. Halides, sulphates, chromates, molybdates and tungstates are also abundant.

The mineral wealth could actually eclipse the energy value monetarily.

  • sustainable but is it good for environmt

I am no scientist marshall but even i know that these hydrothermal vents play a vital role in two things one it changes the temperature of water that surrounds it providing life for many species which you will deprive them off and as it says in this very video the mineral helps push the tectonic plates which as you say you will take away the mineral so if you make this on industrial scale in long run the earth crust or tectonic plates will be in a bit of mess.

    • Environmental concerns

In general I agree with your views. It seems that hydrothermal vents are an important piece of the whole biosphere. To say or suggest otherwise would be foolish.

It's important to recognize the scale of the Mid-Ocean Ridge system to get some sort of perspective on what we're talking about, however. We're talking about a 60,000 km feature.

The only vents of interest to humans would be the ones closest to land masses that could use the energy, which would be only a tiny fraction of the total, and not all of them will ever be utilized. Because of that, I believe the overall impact would be negligible.

It's also important to recognize two other things. Nothing mankind has ever done has not had some consequence, yet somehow we've prevailed. Also, we need and will get power from some source. Only by directly comparing the environmental costs of hydrothermal energy to the costs of generating the same amount of power from any other source can the true benefits be noted.

I personally have a strong environmental conscience, and if I believed that I were contributing to the destruction instead of the betterment of the planet I wouldn't be doing this.

    • Thanx

Thanks i appreciate your educative and fast reply it cleared my concerns i am with you and i hope you will have something working pretty soon all the best.

  • Not the answer to everything.

There is no one solution but it sure looks like a likely piece of the puzzle.

    By Brewdawgz 1230108819
    • I agree

That's exactly how I see this...as one more piece of the puzzle, albeit a major piece.

      By marshallsystem 1230146328
  • Patents?

I hope you already have all of these Ideas patented, cause you know that its dog eat dog in the energy business.

My one question is, have you caught the interest of any big investment firms and are you going to release an IPO soon?

    By King Cobra33 1230107687
    • Well-protected

Yes the system is patented and well protected.

And I'm still working on attracting those with the ability to make this happen.

  • WHOA!!!

talk about hitting the mother load of money if that was made by someone and it works they'll be making more money than Google and Intel put together. that a nice ideal.

    By aurelius4 1230101686
    • Money isn't everything

There's a ton of money to be made I'm sure, but it's kinda nice to know that this can actually change the world at the same time.

And it definitely works. Computer modeling by one of the largest oil companies in the world proves that beyond any doubt.

      By marshallsystem 1230103677
  • WOW

hope the world leaders take notice of this and do someting about it, free, clean, green energy for all. nobel prize for the first to harness this energy.

    By thirteenxxx 1230081696
    • You Can Help

Thanks for the encouraging words. Tell your friends and neighbors. Pass the link around.

I'll worry about a Nobel Prize some other day. Right now, getting the word out is Job 1.

      By marshallsystem 1230084883
  • So hurry up

and build it. Free energy just for the taking. I like the idea.

    By astroknott 1230073764
    • I Yam

I'm hurrying as fast as I can! :)

  • Umm, blocking the nose of mother nature?

When she sneezes then we will learn some lesson...

    By rubberbandman 1230016543
    • Not exactly

This isn't blocking the nose of Mother Nature. It's more akin to redirecting the flow from running freely down her face into a tissue.

Nothing is being stopped here. It's simply being channeled into a pipe where it can be used.

  • this is something the world needs

even the power of the water flow could be used to produce energy.

    By raymondvinzant 1230005390
    • Water flow

The amount of kinetic energy that might be contained in the water flow would be minuscule compared to the heat energy in the water. It would not be logical to try to harness that when the thermal energy ca produce more power than can be used.

    • I prefer to answer

If someone posts a question I like to answer it. If someone has a suggestion I like to consider it. And if someone takes the trouble to reply I like to acknowledge it.

      I consider it common courtesy.
