The number one way to prevent teenage acne is simple... personal hygiene. Personal hygiene is the elephant in the room when it comes to the subject of teenager acne. I have listed 3 tips for teens and parents to consider.

Teens should take a shower immediately after practice, games, or playing.

As a teen struggling with acne, I honestly didn't have the best personal hygiene. I was an athlete throughout my teen years and I sweated a lot. When I got home from practicing or playing a game, I didn't always take a shower right then. Due to fatigue, I would often fall asleep and not take a shower until the next morning. This bad habit was I believe the culprit for my acne problems. The dirt from the sweat clogged my pores, my clothes were dirty and sweaty causing my face and body to harbor acne producing bacteria. It is a must to take a shower immediately after exercising.

Teens should wash your face in the morning and at night.

I was never good at consistently washing my face at least twice a day. Washing your face in the mornings only before school is not good enough.
