Slippery Snow

I live in Tromsø, Norway, way north of the polar circle. The roads are covered by snow and ice 5 months a year an I have never seen this happen here.. Maybe because the people who were stupid enough to drive on ice without winter tires have eradicated themselves from the gene pool?

Why are these people going out of the car ?????

I have 4WD with snow tires. But I've seen this happened to lots of others on snow/ice roads.

Those people did a very foolish thing getting out of their cars like that. It would have been better to take the slow impact of the fender bender than to get pulled under the wheels of a car.

ABS and traction control only help to maximize AVAILABLE traction, if there is no traction then they do nothing. These people were steering and the cars were not responding. If you've ever driven on black ice it doesn't matter what you do unless your tires have spikes. This was the result of bad timing nothing more.

if u have abs and traction control it can help alot, plus theres sumet else called sid or sumet which is even better fro side slipping

Im from europe and i use manual transmition, so its easy in these cases (not all): just shift down even in first shift if u want (u'll need to break while u put on 1 shift a little) and steer like it is a dry road in the middle of summer. :D Simple and easy. This off course doesnt work in automatic.. :D too bad. Sry but i dont know much about automatics i hate them.

Grace pumping the brakes is the proper thing to do. If your car doesn't have ABS on it that's the only way to stop and steer. I know about winter driving, here in Manitoba there's snow on the ground 6 months of the year. I was born in BC and quite honestly you people can't drive in the rain and it rains lots.

Otherwise I can't explain why you didn't see the snow and ice and din't know that it's slipery.

When the car is sliding, press more gas and control the steering. Do not touch the break.

Rule #1 When conditions are slippery ; slow down. Pumping brakes works only when you don't have ABS ; it can't generate traction that isn't there. Turn in the direction you want to go when the rear is swinging around ; slow down so it doesn't.

I am from B.C. Canada and I can drive in the snow. I do agree, why jump out of the car??? And for the person (by Canada), you "DO NOT" pump your brakes to go slower, not when your sliding!!!!! You try to control the steering and not touch the brakes or gas!!! Silly for saying what you did, sorry but, not correct.

I live like 2 minutes away from that place, the snow was the worst I've seen yet; it was just too slippery to drive and that place has an incline too.
But, still, I wouldn't jump out of the car trying to stop it... Dumbasses

Typical american drivers, getting out of your cars to try to slow them down? Jesus no one even tried getting out of the lane or pumping the breaks. Take some lessons from canada, well except for toronto those guys are as bad as the ones in this video.

The license plates look like Colorado. People are the same all over. They do dum stuff on the road,I see it everyday.

this just happened in my home state a month or so ago. it was really horrifying to see on the news. some people got seriously injured

Why get out of the car? You can get kill getting out of the car like that. Pump the breaks to slow down the car.If you are to hit the car in front so be it, but stay in your car it is much safer.
