I have done this and NOTHING happened except for the diet coke shooting out of my mouth like a volcanoe. They also did the same thing on myth busters and nothing bad happened to them. The worst thing that could happen is that you choke from the diet coke going down instead of out of your mouth. Still NOT something you want children doing!!!

what happens is that the CO2 goes from liquid form to gas form really fast and if he's unlucky he might have had a big gulp of it and had alot of co2 in his lungs. not dangerous but it takes the place of the oxygen and could cause him to feel out of breath.

if somehow any liquid could get into the lungs, the alveoles wont be able to work properly, according to the density and pressure thingies of liquid the blood would come out of them or vice versa...
so, in short, like it's said in a mail hoax around the internet, co2 poisoning from coke is "not" possible..
