Every accident, the road was wet. Reminds of a corner down the street from where I went to school. I saw several cars spin off into the ditch and thought they were idiots taking the corner too fast. Until I spun out there on a rainy day. I wasn't going fast, had good tires, had luck and a little skill on my side and managed to recover from the spin.

The road will only look wet - not frosty or anything but in fact all the pores of the road are filled with ice. The temperature hovers at near freezing and the heat/pressure of the tires makes a water layer atop the ice making it even slicker than just ice.500785 - 1

I think this is the problem. I'm from Australia in a region that never snows, and minimum temperature in the height of winter is only just enough to freeze water... however, we get black ice on the highway to my house from the City. Nearly lost it once, scary goin 100kph (60Mph) and having no grip!
