  • Great song, yes.

But the video didn't do a lot for me.

  • Fascinating package !!

This music has a haunting melody, video is very interesting, a bit unreal but not like most others that don't seem to relate to anything, this one could be feasable but I'm sure would invoke a few punch ups, overall top marks.

  • What a song and video

Just before the ending of the film cruel intentions, I heard this song and immediately fell in love with it, afterwards when I watched the video I was just ecstatic. The video is beautiful and what creativity.

  • Roling Stones

The Verve ripped this song off the Rolling Stones. They sued him and now the Stones have 100% royalties on this song, thats right The Verve made F**k all off their #1 single, lmao thats what u get for stealing songs and pretending their your own. don;t belive me google it.

    • The Verve

It was the Rolling Stones that did the stealing here. The Verve payed the license to sample the catchy riff from the Rolling Stones. All is good until it hits #23 on Billboard. This is 1997, and the Rollings Stones are filthy rich, but the son's of bitches are just too damn greedy, so they sue the Verge. The dumbass judge decides that a sample that lasts LESS THAN 10 SECONDS is "too much" and takes the WHOLE SONG from it's rightful owners and gives it to the stones.
The Stone's producer, being the greedy asshole is, whores out the song he stole to a Nike commercial.
Then the song wins a Grammy, and guess who were the nominees? Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, which is interesting because neither of them had ANY creative input, sampled or not, on Bittersweet Symphony. The words were 100% from Verve, and the catchy riff was actually composed by a dude name Andrew Oldham. (Which ended up making a lawsuit of his own)
But in the end, the world is a better place. Why make good music when you can just steal it instead?

    • Hate to pick but...

...they only nicked the opening riff from the Rolling Stones.

But yeah it serves them right, but it is a fookin awesome song and an inspired video

    • All through the song

That "riff" repeats all throughout the song. It stops for a bit then starts again. It was taken from the orchestral version of the Last Time by the Rolling Stones
