  • A good lesson?

Thousands of innocent civilians died on this day and all you can say is that is was a good lesson. Have you no heart? And everything is Bush's fault nowadays huh? This tribute is for all those who were lost on this tragic day and people have the nerve to make idiotic and disrespectful posts such as the ones mentioned above. Thank you to whoever put this together and please try to keep the comments respectful as the 5 year anniversiry nears closer. And i also remember where i was. I live in NYC and I was in school and we were having an assembly. It was then cancelled but they did not tell us anything. They said "Its something that your parents should be telling you, not us". We then went back to class and just sat there, no work, no lessons. The teachers were out in the hall whispering. One by one students were being picked up, i was one of the last to be picked up and as we were driving home my mom told me that terrorists attacked us. At that time i had no idea what this meant but then i glanced over at the skyline and saw them on fire. I was stunned, I didnt say anything for the rest of the ride home. I then just sat there watching the news for hours. watching them collapse, all the poeple running. 2 of my uncles were there woking for the NYPD (New York Police Department) trying to help. I lost one of them forever on that tragic day as the first tower fell.I also lost 3 other Police Officers/ Firefighters that i knew closley. It dosent matter who did it. whether it was out goverment, terrorists, whatever. Innocent people died on that day, people that i know. And when i hear people talking about how it was a good lesson it just enrages me. New York is still taking in the effects of that one day. Police Officers and Fire Fighters are getting sick because of the Debris that they took in trying to save lives. My uncle has to sleep with a oxygen tank in fear that he will stop breathing while he is sleeping. God Bless everyone who died and everyone affected.

  • My 2 cents!

It’s hard to believe that people would say such things as in other posts here.

This tribute was made for the families of the Trade Centers, Pentagon and any other who was directly or indirectly impacted by the 9/11 events. Was it a lesson? I don't know, maybe yes it was...of just how cruel the some people of the world could be.

I don't agree with the war in Iraq. I wish that our troops were home instead of dying. I wish that people in Iraq and other parts of the world weren't dying. But unfortunately, it’s not in my control. I have to sit here and watch on as we are being killed, and killing at the same time. I don't like war. I don't condone war. This tribute isn't meant to condone anything that is happening now. Its just to remember those who lost there lives on that day. Right now there are *MANY* conspiracy theories floating the Net to how this happened. I don't know how it happened (Meaning I don't know if was Terrorist, or the Inside US Government) the fact is that many people died on that day. This is sad. If you have problems with people dying in your country, then please express yourself in other ways other than to make ignorant comments like the ones that have been left here. I don't want to remember the fact that this happened. I want to remember the People that have been affected by this. If this is offensive to someone, I'm deeply sorry. But that doesn’t change the fact that I have Respect for those who put there lives at risk to help others in need. I know that it must be hard to look at a building and knowing that if you go in, you may not come out. It’s not a comforting feeling. I have much respect for the rescue workers who were at "Ground Zero". I can only imagine what it was like to see the mass destruction and wonder how this could have happened, if it was possible to survive, and if they too were ever going to see there loved ones again.

The answer to "Where were you?", well I was sitting in my living room with my 3 year old (now going on 8) and holding him watching a cartoon for his age, when my wife called me from work to tell me that something bad was happening. I turned on the news, and then started watching the events unfold, this was around 9:15 am... After watching for about 20 minutes or so, I went to my daughters’ school and brought her home. And yes, I did hold my kids tight that day, and hoped that their Grandparents, my wife’s Grandparents were ok. They lived about 20 miles from this. It took some time, but we were able to finally get through to them. I remember talking with friends about what had happened. I remember the disbelief of it all. This is the 3rd tribute that I have done. Each year for the past 3 years I make one. This is the first one that I have uploaded to Metacafe. I unfortunately don't have my others anymore. If I did, I would have uploaded them as well.

So again, I'm sorry if this video offends you in anyway, and if it does, well you can just h

  • Where were you...

This song says exactly how I felt that day. I am a native New Yorker, remember as a child seeing the Towers being build and be awed. In 97' my fiance and I went to the restaurant, Windows ??, just for a drink and take in the view of the great city. On that awful day I was crossing the Ponchartrain Bridge in LA., thought it was a fluke at first then at work everyone was glued to the TV watching, some crying some just doubt founded by the whole event. I watched till one of the Tower collapsed and couldn't watch anymore, called my brother, we both said "It's a horror movie on TV, this just can't be true." I so badly wanted to go home, grab my daughter (6 at the time) and just hold her as tight as I could in a corner as I never felt so scared in my life. I woke up the next day hoping this was a bad dream till I turned the TV, then I cried for 5 days every morning thinking about what really happened. I still get upset watching programs or talking to people, but it is getting easier. The wound in my heart will never go away and will never fully recover, and I didn't lose anyone in this horrible disaster but I am a New Yorker and a proud American. On the this anniversay we all should show our pride and as a nation who is very patriotic, let us show it. Wear Red/White

  • Posted somewhere else here in metacafe.....

I found this on another 9/11 posting here on metacafe:

what country you live in, were born in or plan to live in. I don't care by what name you call your God or even if you believe in God. What happened here was nothing but evil.
The killing of innocents, be they American, Iraqi, British or Afghani, be they Christian or Muslim or Jew cannot be the answer to any problem the world has.
Some of the comments here on Metacafe are a form of that evil. Rascist comments based on a persons religion or nationality do none of us any good. There are evil people of all nationalities and religions, which they use as an excuse to further there evil. But there are more good people in the world from every creed, colour and nationality.
A great man once said something along the lines of "For evil to flourish, good people need only do nothing" forgive me if the quote is not word perfect, but hopefully you will get the message.
Let's make a start here and stop generalising, stop abusing and make an effort to understand each other - for all of our childrens sakes if not for ours.

As Dave Allen (an Irish comedian) used to say - May your God go with you!

  • Like I said...

I'm not for war. I don't agree with the war that we are in. I am unable to do anything to stop the war. Its not in my power to stop the war. I feel very bad about those who have lost their lives in other countries too.

Tell me where I can find still pictures of them. I will make a video for them too! I feel bad for anyone who has lost a loved one due to the war, terrorist or even sabotage. I don't know who did the damage. I hear that it was US Gov., The Alquida (Don't know how to spell it sorry) or just some loose fanatic. The point that I am trying to make is that, we need to remember the FAMILIES that have lost loved ones, whether its in the US or in other Countries. Again I don't condone the war in anyway. I don't like seeing people die or being killed.

It S**ks that everyone in the US has to live with the fact that Bush is president. I for one didn't vote for him. I don't like the way he is running this country (I am a US Resident) I see posts on Metacafe all the time, saying stuff like "YOU STUPID AMERICANS". Not all "Americans" agree with whats going on! Not all "Americans" voted for Bush! Like I said, I wont answer for the stupidity of our President. I have my own opinions and views, and Mine aren't like BUSH!

So again, if you have a problem with the Comments here, or the video, just click on the little "Delete Item" button at the top of this window (Desktop Version) or just find another video to view or picture to gock at.

  • I was

on holiday in Zante Greece, that day we were on a boat trip that was pretty crap and rough. We spoke to an american and his wife that were from florida and they were complaing that there mobile phones could not reach home as he had to call his work line. At that time we had been on the boat for an hour and the first plane would have hit. Anyhow the trip ended and we said our goodbyes. I walked around when we got back to our resort and passed a bar with huge tv on wall and it looked like people were watching a film like Towering inferno, until I saw "Sky News Live" on the bottom of the screen. Then I knew why the guys mobile would not work. My wifes cancer finally started to get the better of her on that holiday and she died the following January, but we often spoke of " how we learned of what happened and where we were." Who ever planned it and for whatever reason wanted to hurt a lot of people and suceeded. A tragic loss of life. Great post by the way.

  • I remember what I was doing

i was in the lounge room and the TV was on in the background then the news came on and i watched it. When i had seen what had happened i held my daughters and hugged them harder than i ever had before and told them never take life for granted as it can end so quick.
Since that day i have had trouble going into an underground carpark.
The starge thing is i live on the other side of the world in Australia and it shows no matter where you are events like this affect people from all parts of the world not just the USA.
My wishes are with everyone that was affected in someway.
Please take care and live life to the fullest, dont waste any minute of it.

  • the right to express my opininion..

obviously i don't have this right for myself..i had added 2 comments but both of them were filtered...maybe you want to read only the comments that follow your opinion.thank you all for proving me that we don't leave in a free world..anyway if you want some numbers about how many innocent people were killed due to terrorist actions ( including the kills of civilians during war time ) all over the world : about 3.000 in the WTC (NY-USA) , 45.500 in Iraq , 3.500 in Afganistan , 1.109 in Lebanon , 16.727 in the rest of the Middle East , 1.420 in Eastern Europe , 6.600 in Southeastern Asia , 1.186 in Central America and 1.215 in Africa...... (my sources are IISS , MIPT , B'tselem , Palestine Red Crescent and Associated Press ) . these numbers don't say anything to all of you?my jugdement is that the victims in the WTC are only a small piece of the total number.what's yours?only the american people are the victims?and the rest of the world that the US is responsible for their deaths?we don't care cause they are not AMERICANS . so,all of you, stop crying and face the truth..stop executing other nations and mind your own bussines.you don't rule the world and noone hired you as the judge of the universe..

  • get over it

there is no way onearth id condone what happened on that tragic day, but do you yanks seriously think that you havent been doing these sorts of things to people for the last hundred years? there might be just a little bit of RETREBUTION in it for you.it was 5 years ago stop milking it. your goverment is no humane than bin laden

    By 1900ellis 1157258066
    • "Get over it"?

And just how long would YOU spend getting over it if 3000 innoocent people had been killed in your country? As for the Yanks "doing these sorts of things to people for the last hundred years", perhaps you'd care to identify your country so we can compare records.

214000 inocents in heroshima, and nagasaki!
how long would it take for them to get over a quater milion killed with two atomic bombs ?
it ' s real sad for all the innocent to die, so the polititian would have fun!
and i'm sorry for those who lost someone in 9/ 11 but really get over it, it ' ll help you to move on, and see more clearly ! the thing is that america 's suffering cause the pride's been hurt, your gouverment was so sure it wouldn't happen, you were undistructable , and there are so many things that are unsure, and screwed by your own gouverment to refuse responsibility of this mess, but come to think about it your gouverment blames Binladen for it ( maybe he is guilty ) he ' s an american, so you raise Binladen , you trained, him so he went bad - get over it , or blame your gouverment above all!

      ....

      By drazen6 1157718427
    • I've said it before, and

      I'll say it again:

If it weren't for the USA, most of the rest of the world would be speaking German and goose-stepping to the latest tune authorized by the Nazi government in your hometown.

People died in Nagasaki and Hiroshima because of the government that led them.

America is suffering because of the pride-filled idiocy of Bin Ladin. No more and no less. He took our help when we were pushing the Russians out of Afghanistan. But then lost his purpose when the Russians left.

Another example of patriotism that becomes rabid when there is no enemy left to fight: It manufactures one.

Bin Ladin fought the Russians when they invaded. He declared war on the US when he looked around and decided that "they shouldn't be on 'holy ground.'"

Blame America if you like. But that changes nothing: The truth is evident.

    • you americans are incredible!!

check out what u are saying...for nagasaki ang hirosima it was their goverment fault. but in your case Bin Landen is responsible. why isn't it the same for the WTC too? you are always blaming others than yourself. you can't admit not even once that maybe you have the blame for something. the only thing you keep saying all the time is"God bless America".i'm totally bored to hear this thing so many times..as if God cares only for America in this world..ok, the rest of us can leave this world and die. "god bless America" "god bless America" the dumbiest thing i have heard in my life....
