By nzoz1978 [Affiliate User] 1212029357i read the most of the makers of the Rock Horror Picture Show (movie) were aussie. gives some perspective of the visual aspect of that movie and Split Enz.
By panicatthebristo [Affiliate User] 1212026937And finally, if you assume (which I think you're comment is based on assumption) we were behind the rest of the world as far as film and videos go, take a look at early videos by Split Enz and Mi-Sex.
Sure, they're not impressive by today's standards, but the 70's were very different times.
In Oz, video making was almost compulsary for every artist that was signed... it was a way for record companies to appease the mighty Aussie pop TV show 'COUNTDOWN' (a show that gave Blondie, Meatloaf, John Cougar, the Motels and others their first ever chart hits before the rest of the world caught on).
'Love Is In The Air' is a bland video, but back then, a good song only needed the bare essentials. It would have made NO DIFFERENCE if it was made in OZ, US or UK!
I can understand the question 'what do you expect from 1978?', but to point blame to Australia for the video's bland quality is rather ignorant. 1) Videos had very minimal importance during the 70's - most videos of the day were basic.
2) Australia was one of the first countries in the world to be in the habit of making videos - many of them being innovative. MTV did not exist during the 70's, so there were only a very few US acts that practised the art of video making (i.e Devo).
Sorry below but you are talking pants....Song is awesome and with regard the vid ..... What do you expect from 1978 Australia..????
By ginocasio [Affiliate User] 1212017943This video is creepy and kind of boring. Song is too dated for my liking.
By AetheriusLamia [Affiliate User] 1211993226One song can has a special mean for someone and can not means nothing for another. I wouldn´t go so far too, but I agree it's a beautiful music. To me in particulr, it takes me back to my early teens.

By dodgyfan [Affiliate User] 1211657522i find this astonishing, this song clearly a huge disco/pop hit in the USA, reaching #7 pop, however it NEVER charted on the dance/disco charts, how can that be????
