Underage Girls Used in Modeling Industry [13+]

Watching the Inside Edition piece, we see the same old stuff, and the same old empty arguments. A main one is the stuff about promising a "modeling career."

Hello? Models who make money have a career. What Inside Edition attempts to imply is that nasty webmasters are telling 5'2" C-cup 13-yo girls that they'll have a career like a 5'10" runway model such as Tyra Banks. Never happen. And where's the proof that any webmasters are making such promises? None is offered.

Most teen wannabe models pay photographers to take pictures of them. Those who aren't obvious no-hopers may be able to get TFP work, Time For Print. This means that photogs will take pictures and not charge them, but also will not pay them. Only a small number of teen models on OMP, for example, are actually paid for their time. By contrast, presumably 100% of paysite models make money. So enough of this old warhorse.

Other techniques used, such as showing Jimmy's mug shot (?), were intended to imply that Jimmy really was guilty, despite being found innocent of all charges. Throwing Sierra's mom into the mix was intended to show guilt-by-associatio n, i.e., both are/were in the same line of business, therefore both are guilty.

Then there's the "skirting the law" argument. Which is to say, that keeping within the law is "skirting the law." This is a context-specific argument which is often used for sexy material. It refers to people pushing the boundaries, typically on issues relating to sexual morality. This is not really the same thing as Jimmy's Ferrari example, because it relates to culture, tradition and morality in ways that maintaining the speed limit do not. However, in the end, the law is the law, and abiding by the law is not "skirting" it, it is obeying the law. The law doesn't change simply because a lot of people don't like it.

Those of us familiar with the photos shown will know that, in many cases, fogged areas did not need to be fogged. The fogging implied that something naughty was being hidden, for example Tina's HB shot, where fogging causes the viewer to imagine that nipples are being shown, which is false. Naturally, this will cause knee-jerk reactions in many viewers, while many others will be curious to see what was fogged.

The sad thing about this entire situation is the media. They need something shocking to gain ratings and it is the MEDIA who exploits things such as this. How old was Brooke Shields when she modeled completely naked for the first time? 8? 9? Elle McPherson, Christie Brinkley, Nicki Taylor? Guess what.. this is part of the modeling business. Notice how the video does not mention other modeling jobs that these girls do for companies in which they are modeling sports attire, jeans, prom dresses, etc... Now don't get me wrong, of course there are some people out there such as that Sheila mother who are not professional and their children are not models and yes that is completely wrong, but as for the models of True Teen Babes, look at the photos, these are all professional models and there is absolutely nothing wrong with these photos. For the media to attempt to make it seem like it is *sexually explicit* is ridiculous and it is the media adding light like that to what a model does that put these models in danger, all for the viewers and to twist the truths and get the viewers outraged about something that simply does not exist. Yet as long as the viewers want to believe the lies in videos such as these (and from the comments below, I can see many did without investigating it on their own) the media will continue to fabricate stories for ratings. How many models have been stalked because of media personas such as this? If you want risque, look at Maxim, Victoria's Secret, Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition... and no, none of the above is wrong or *disgusting* either. They are legitimate jobs for professional models, exactly the same as TTB. Haven't we had enough media misrepresentation yet people?

What the hell?! They send you to prison only for WHAT PICTURES YOU POST ON A WEBSITE??? Did the world really go completely mad? The internet is not a damn way to arrest people for all the smallest nothings! What country is that? The law there should be more dangerous then being a hostage in Iraq! Honestly! If a 13 year old girl want's to be a model, let her be a model. ASk yourself what's best. A 40 year old man, sitting at home at his computer, masurbating to pictures of underage girls OR a 40 year old man out there sexually harassing small children?

My first reaction when I saw this video was that I had never heard of these sites UNTIL this video. Inside Edition essentially took a site that most of us knew nothing about and made it front page news, doing their OWN part to exploit the immenently HOT Elle just to score ratings.

My second reaction is that Elle seems more together and more mature, as well as comfortable with herself, than most adults I know. That attorney is just jealous because she is fat and over the hill. I would be the farm that the attorney would have LOVED to be seen as sexy as Elle is. Instead she is hiding behind this crusade of hers to shot down sites that for all intents and purposes are entirely legal.

Third, the suggestion that older men (whatever older is) who view someone as beautiful as Elle are perverts is simply ludicrous. Elle is gorgeous. Period. And I do not recall all the hooplah when Brittany Smears topped the charts with HER boobs! No difference as far as I am concerned.

Another thought that I had is that Elle is full of it. She is smart enough to know exactly what she is selling, and she might as well be consistent and say, "Hell yes I am selling sex. So what. It's my body. Don't you find me sexy, Mr. Inside Edition Interviewer? It sure seems like you do, judging by the buldge in your pants." I would have more respect for the girl if she was just honest. Don't give me this innocent "Oh, I don't think I am selling sex" crap.

And the guy that got arrested? Trying to convict him by associating him with that mother is just a slight of hand. Just a cheap trick. The guy was found innocent. So there was no need to even show his face. What the mother did was wrong. It was just wrong. Not the same thing at all.

Now, before all you self-righteous feminists get on your high horse, I am not condoning sex with kids. Nor am I condining sexuall exploiting them. But Elle seems like she is pretty together for the most part. She is no desert flower. And I would bet she has been around the block once or twice, sadly.

I agree the line has to be drawn somewhere. I am just not sure where it needs to be drawn. In the 1800's people were marrying and having kids when they were 15 and 16. In the 1600's sometimes sooner than that.

The bottom line is we have a big problem in this country. Teens are getting sexier and wilder every day. Female teachers are hitting on male students and getting slaps on the wrist, while men are treated like dogs and thrown into the penitentiary for doing the same thing. There is a double standard and that is wrong.

I think the laws need to be re-examined and then once that is done, applied evenly across board. But cultural change is happening and we need to address it.

Inside Edition is hypocritical. It's not a public service show. It's trashy entertainment. You can bet that in the promos for this show they heavily advertised the same material that was being trashed. The show didn't take on this topic to be helpful or altruistic. They did it because they knew the subject matter would tittilate and give them big ratings.

It's really silly how this has become the fixation in media over the last couple of years. Everyone likes to think they know what's best for other people. It's very sad what our world has turned out like. I mean I don't understand whats the difference between a teenager wearing a bra and underwear and bikini, they are exactly the same.
