History was created in the girls division as Pauline Ado (FRA) became the first international competitor to win the event; an event that had previously been dominated by Australian athletes.

With a combined heat score of 13.43 (out of a possible 20) Ado proved to be too strong for runner-up Bethany Hamilton (HAW) in a battle that went down to the wire.
