      I am from So. Calif. the L. A. area. Let me leave you with this, if you say you don't believe someone, it is usually because you lie a lot. People that lie a lot have a tendency to believe others do, so they don't believe some one else story. What happen is a matter of public record but I am glad to put this behind me. Maybe I am overly sensitive to this because it hit close to home. So, even if you don't believe some one, never let the other person know it. It makes you come out as a liar. That is why I never get in any debated with any one that I don't believe or that don't believe me. I fond out the best way to hit them is in the pocketbook so I always tell them if they don't believe me put up some real money, let's start wit $250,000 and work our way up from there.       Ok this last post of yours is actually what makes the most sense you are getting better.
      I'm sorry if i don't believe you (and you might think i'm a liar if you want) but i don't usually believe people writting in internet websites were you can virtually be a unknown and therefore whoever you want: tall, fit, blue-eyed, rich,... one example:
      there is one drummer called Mike Portnoy that is amazing, he plays in the progresive band "Dream Theater and has won 12 years in a row the title "best progresive drummer" and is considered one of worlds top, well if you read the comments in this site in a vid of him, he is just an "amateur", "beguiner", "loser without talent" and there is about 100 people writting that they are better drummers than he is... Should i believe them?
      If one profesional driver makes a race, sudenly everyone is a driving expert and knows everithing better and so on.
      well, that's why i don't believe most of people in this kind of websites.
      One day i go and tell about a funny t-shirt (and is a real t-shirt, i didn't make it up) and somebody i don't know calls me idiot and tells me "how good is tourism for the world" (actually can be quite bad too destroying paradises, once Java island was breathtaking, now looks like Mallorca, Miami, or Cancun and since international companies keep the money, the people is as poor as before if not worse and then beguins the drug and sex tourism, check thailand, indonesia, cuba, dominican republic, brazil, etc)

Some crocodiles are crushed in hippo jaws since the hipos are very territorial.

People will never learn, that why maybe death or injury can persuade other people to not make these mistakes. Animals need to be respected. Let me put it this way, in Florida a lot of alligators are killed or relocated, niw why should this happen??     I saw the original clip many years ago, before it was americanised. The buck with the long bent horns are in fact sable and not impala as suggested, although the buck caught by the crocodile is an impala doe. The original clip is much longer and clearer. Hippo are responsible for more human fatalaties than any other mammal in Africa.

    Of what anyone says, the acts of the Hippo are for obvious reasons. Don't be so dense. If the hippo wanted to eat it, it would have. Animals sometimes lose children in the wild, and this creates a type of instinct within them that makes it so that when it sees a young animal in danger, on rare occasions (even if the animal isn't even of the same species) it will try to save it. They know that it is to lose a child and if you don't believe that animals have emotions also, well, then you must think that you're the S**t , huh? But then again, even if you were shown more videos of this nature, you would still deny them as being truth. In the end, you lose the argument always.       I'm studying evolution in university. This type of thing is unheard of in nature. Altruistic behaviour is only found within species only to increase the chance that their relatives (with common genes) will survive. Animals in nature are selfish and only care about passing down their genetic material and making sure it survives. That is why this video is truely fascinating.

    Hippos are actualy very intellagent as well as amazingly playfull, they are however scared by people and in effort to escape the fight or flight responce kicks in, they run usually 9 outa 10 times. however this is defanetly soemthing that is beyond our human capability as in nature their is a law of the wild, and it's as if the gazell follow a law of a few must die for the rest to survive but no more will die then nessasary. However that hippo was almost enraged at the crock for taking the younger one. Could it be that it felt emotions of anger and sadness twords the dying gazell you tell your thoughts, but all creatures are able to feel and learn.

    The animal kingdom is an amazing place... Possibly this hippo lost one of her own young... and CPR isn't hard to work out, if you sufficate something, try to give it air any way you can. I have seen footage also of Lionesses saving the cubs of cheetahs and other young pups where it was common place to assume they would just eat them. There was a documentry a while ago where a lioness who lost her own cubs saved and brought up 2 cheetah pups from a pack hyenas. This is an amazing video, too bad it was too late for the gazell. IT WASN'T TRYING TO EAT IT! How do I know this, I've seen this behaviour with lots of animals spread wide accross the animal kingdom first hand. Animals have brains and emotions too ... get over yourselves already.

      A hippo is strictly vegetarian. It was definitely trying to help the gazzelle. Hippos dont like crocodiles and dont tolerate them in their territory. The hippo should have bit the crocodile in half since a hippo can crush a 15 foot crocdile in its jaws.

      The liklihood is that the hippo was pissed at the croc for making noise or being in his territory. Hippos are INCREDIBLY territorial. It looked FAR more like he was chasing the gazelle *away* from the water. I also sincerely doubt he was 'reviving' it, i think it is far more commen practice to lick an animal to get it breathing, i've not seen mouth to mouth used....

      I think the hippo wanted to kill it, if it did why didn't he eat it. Or take it away with him. He probably was trying to revive it, but didn't realize he was killing the impala. As soon as he did, he gave up and left. Or maybe the hippo didn't kill it, but that the impala got scared to death.

      it seems to me that the gazzelle was alive on the ground but the hipo killed it by bitting it's head! it is obvious that at one pint the hipo took the gazzelles head in its mouth! now why would he do that for unless it wanted to eat it?

      i would like to get some suggestions for you guys cause this is interesting !

    every1 here says hippos are known to kill ppl but maby thats bc ppl kill animals not for food but just for there own resons so maby hippos r like trying to be protecters for the other animals.

    I never would have thought.
    I would have like to seen the hippo grab the crock and toss it a few hundred yards.
    The crazy thing is Hippos are known to kill humans that get in the way.
    They have nearly as many death by hippos as they do crocks
