The driver was obviously aiming for the hat. Can't say that I blame him.

How did the spectator get in the way of the car exactly???????

To me it looks like the driver lost control of the car and went into the crowd!
I'm sure some people are commenting on a different vid from the one that is shown?
What next 'the driver went into the crowd to avoid that huge pink and yellow elephant in the middle of the track?' geeeeze

I like to race, road racing not drifting. When spectators stand in such exposed areas and get hit It's called thinning the herd. Well I guess that is a little mean, sorry. Remember when when watching any competitive event stand in a safe place. Or if your at the running of the bulls bring your best running shoes. Now in Europe when watching the auto rally events you are not a spectator but something soft for the car to hit when they go wide in a turn. Those who are not hit help get the car back on the track before helping the injured. Just watch the videos if you do not believe me. I'm good at drifting on the track but I do not drift on purpose.;)
