The Error Of Buddhism

I'm not a Buddhist, but as far as I'm concerned, I don't hear or read about any "Buddhist suicide bombers".

This video is probably propaganda for Islam (watch it until the end) so it's not surprising Buddhism is portrayed as an erroneous way of life. Unfortunately, instead of pointing out possible errors in Buddhism that are intriguing to think about even for Buddhists, it presents us with a depressing interpretation of their customs with a complete disregard for the spirit of them. Some of the ones named in the video are also not Buddhist customs at all. For example: a Buddhist does not practice self-torture and a Buddhist monk does not beg for good, a Buddhist monk goes on alms round. Remember: this is not an educational video. If you want to learn something truthful about Buddhism I suggest reading some of the introduction articles on accesstoinsight.org.

This seems to be produced by a sick demented mind persons who hates to explore the mystery of the mind... they speak as if they know everything about buddhism and reached the bottom of their mind. buddhism is not religion, it's a science of the mind which is for me much superior than religion! I think people of the earth should practice this and quit waging pointless wars and violence and the so called holy war! Buddhism is very neutral and peaceful practice which doesnt "DESCRIMINATE" such as this film...muslims and christians are so welcome!

OK, I'm speaking from no real religious affiliation. I've studied Buddhism, and years ago I took the Shahada (oath to become a Muslim). Since then I've lost faith in really all humanity and their religions, not to say a god.

Furthermore, I'm speaking as a fourth year religious studies major at my university. I didn't even need to hear more than four minutes of this "documentary" to see the extreme bias. I'm aware everything printed and filmed will have a bias, but this is really blunt. Firstly, if you're going to say the Islam is a better way than Buddhism, try to refrain from such sentiments as "EVERY Muslim" being "productive and happy." I've known plenty who have been neither. This as well as pointing out the monks as just children, when many many many people would gladly wish for their children to blow themselves up to become martyrs, also just disturbs me.

My reasoning for taking the time to write this though is not simply to point out the obvious. While Buddhism as a lifestyle has been given the term religion, it really isn't so. Examining the teachings of the Buddha shows really that it is more of a philosophy, and the Buddha did not dabble in the ideas of God for a reason--it's irrelevant in the message. Taking that in, it is entirely possible to be a Buddhist oriented Christian/Jew/Muslim/Baha'i/Zoroastrian. The Abrahamic faiths will look to God more, while the Eastern traditions will look more towards the worldly and how to live life well.

But to end this all faiths make really just as much logical sense as the other. And if some could actually listen and learn, and not stick their fingers in their ears while screaming, maybe this whole getting along thing could work out.

That is wrong. Buddha said that you should not cloud yourself with the question of wether God exists or not.

This could not be further from the truth. When Buddha left the forest after almost starving himself to death with the aesetics, he found enlightenment through the middle way. The aesetics believed that enlightenment could only be achieved through self abusive meditation etc... but Buddha taught that life must be balanced. If the string on a lute is too tight it will break. If the string is too slack, it will not play. You must find the middle way to achieve harmony. This is at the heart of all buddhist teachings.

You don't have to be a monk to be a good buddhist. Surely this means that the monks are there through choice. It is my understanding that monks are in search of enlightenment, if it was because they don't want to be re-born as a fly etc then surely all buddhists would become monks.

plz stop posting such videos. This is absurd. i am a buddhist in a christian school and i can say that the stuff they preach in school is unreal. Buddhism is the only religion that has not started any wars in its name since the start of this religion. think again before posting anymore of these videos.

There isn't any religion that people can say is 100% right, especially when comparing to another religion. Why is it that most religions ruling bobies are extremely wealthy yet there people are live below the povity line.
