      The mood-enhancing tone and voice is a standard in ANY televised documentary or "amazing videos/ amazing car-chases / when animals atack" type program !
      YES, pandas are vegetarian... NO they're not harmless to other animals, including people.

      This man's life WAS in danger. Had the bystanders not helped him an had the panda been able to pull him thru the bars or reach his face from thru the bars, he would have been mauled or scratched up bad... maybe killed... but not eaten, if it's any consilation.
