Cabo Silleiro En Baiona- Faro Y Cuartel

Faro Silleiro Saliendo de Baiona en dirección a A Guarda la carretera recorre una hermosa zona de costa acantilada modelada por la continua acción del mar. En la parroquia de Baredo se encuentra el faro de Cabo Silleiro que marca el inicio de las Rías Bajas. El primer edificio data de 1986. En 1909, su antigua lámpara de mecha fue sustituida por una de petróleo.

La construcción que hoy vemos fue inaugurada en agosto de 1924. Con sus 85 metros de altura, la torre del faro se convirtió en un referente para el elevado tráfico marítimo de esta zona. Desde 1960, tiene una lámpara que se puede distinguir a 40 millas, además de dotarlo de otros servicios como una sirena y en un emisor radioeléctrico.

En las cercanías del faro, pueden verse unas antiguas instalaciones militares, con su batería de tiro. Despues de pasar el Faro, continuamos nuestro camino hasta el vecino ayuntamiento de Santa María de Oia, con su impresionante monasterio.
