sidewinder
A "normal" snake would crawl with body always in contact with ground. The sidewinder moves in such a manner that minimizes body contact with the hot sand.

  the sidewinder is moving this way not specifically because it doesnt want to get hot , but because the sand is slippery and its belly scales have nothing to push against in the same manner as a snake that lives on hard ground

  Sidewinders can only kill things that weigh 30 pounds or less. They go sideways to keep most of their body off the hot sand. It can move straight when it wants to. They are the least poisonous snake in Nevada.
