What kind of commentary does you suggest???...
I want to share my good experience with this surgery, and the way I feel after. I think if I input more commentary is related the surgery and I can give information about thtat because I'm not a doctor, so I give the web site of the FDA with the information about this surgery.
If you want to know how I feel, I feel very good, the recuperation is very easy, and you have to take some care if you go to the beach or to protect in order do not receive hits on yor face.
I think this is a good medical testimonial.

  • My Experience

I had the surgery about 3 years ago. What some have to think about is that people that had the surgery any longer than 5 years ago may have had the old method of doing it which was not as accurate as todays method and had more complications. There is risks with any surgery that something can go wrong. I had it done in Sydney Australia and had both eyes done. One of the eyes when the lens was cut , it didn't cut perfectly round. Apparently a 1 in 5000 occurance. The Dr did not go through with the laser part of the surgery because he said there was a slight risk that it would not be as good as it could. A lot of other Dr's may have still gone through with it. I had to wait 6 weeks before getting that eye re done. I have been very happy with the results. I would reccomend it and would also suggest don't try to find the cheapest place to do it. Try to find one that is good. Do your reserch it is well worth it.

  • Best thing ever

I really wonder how I used to live without having this operation. I used to wear glasses ever since I could remember ... now and thanks to this great operation I do not need to ... mind you... you should be aware also of the smell of burning flesh before you do the operation cause that almost freaked me out ... I was able to see normally after a couple of hours and now my eye sight is 20/20... Make sure you consult a good doctor though cause not everyone can have this procedure done on them.

  • adverse

based on my studies here in the philippines, the adverse effect of lasik is having a dry eye. Because the tear film in front of the cornea lost its integrity or become poor in some cases. Some ophthalmologist prescribe an artificial tears for their patients undergone lasik to avoid eye irritation and lacrimation.
    Qualifications in LAsik surgey:
    myopia = -1.00D to -12.00D
    hyperopia= +1.00D to +6.00D
    astigmatism= 1.00D to 6.00D
for presbyobe patients there is new non surgical procedurecalled CK (Conductive Keratoplasty)
just search 4 it if ur interested......

so how well did you see before the surgery and do they give you 100% guarantee that they wont mess up during the surgery!??

By -HAVOC- 1158603690 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • vision before

I had Myopia and Astigmatism (4.25 Left eye and 3.5 Right Eye), without glasses I didn't see.
Today I don't need to use glasses at all.
If you go a medical institution (hospital or a clinic) they do the surgery in a operation room or a very sterilize room and by specialized doctors.
That is because I recommend to contact the right persons. Don´t feel attracted in promotions, etc etc etc, it could be dangerous. Someone post that the surgery in some place cost 200$. I think with they, you could have non desirable results.

Did you have to go to the hospital frequently for examination after the surgery?

By FHL 1158591377 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • One day....

One day after the surgery you will have normal vision, or perfect vision. As I told, you must to follow the sugestion about the care of your eyes.
If I remember well, I went to the hospital next day of the surgery, one control 15 days after, and then 6 month later.
I always, go to the ophthalmologist, once a year for simple control (like to go to the dentist).
      Thanksa and regards

  • Hi Viniciomorar, so you did the surgery ...

How do you feel now, any restrictions when using eyes, like can you do fierce sports, basketball and soccer? Swimming?

I wanna do it too, but I am not afraid of the long term effect which people discussed on the Internet.

By FHL 1158537344 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Feel great...

I feel very good. I don´t need any drps or something like that. I work all day (at least 7 or 8 hour a day) behind a computer monitor. I used to practice soccer and mini soccer (futbol sala, is a soccer with 5 players), I 'm the goalkeeper. I swin, but always wear googles, ride bike, and so on. I have a normal life.
The only thing is that you MUST to do the previuos exams before the surgery and to know if you are elegible patient. Follow the recomendatins afetre the surgery.
I think that some persons have unsucesful results, because they do not follow recommendatios, go to the beach, do not protect theirs eyes after the surgery.
I follow strctly those recommendations, and today I can say that this surgery is one of the best things that ocurred in my life.

      Regards

you say the surgery worked and u can see almost 20/20, but are there any side effects like dry eyes or are your eyes just like the were before apart from the better sight?

By amcoops 1158108733 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • Post op

After the operation you will feel your eyes are very dry and they feel like you have sand on them so you'll have to use eye drops constantly the first couple of weeks to keep them from drying also you will probably have to use antibiotic drops for a week to prevent any infection. Besides that you have to take good care of your eyes preventing any dust water shampoo, anything that can fall in your eyes. The sensitivity to light is also a side effect but just as the dryness of the eye it will subside and within a month you'll be back to normal. Some people do experience dryness of the eye even years after the operation but those cases are not very common and they're usually associated if you already suffered from dry eye. As for me I use eye drops every night before going to sleep because the air conditioner dries my eye a little, it's not really a problem because if I blink a couple of times my eyes will moist themselves without eye drops.

  • For those considering this surgery...

Make sure you do the research before going through with this. I'd been considering this surgery after hearing so many success stories. But then after a little searching on the net, there's no way in hell I'd go through with this now (eg, http://surgicaleyes.infopop.cc/eve, http://www.lifeafterlasik.com/, http://www.surgicaleyes.org/)

  • Had this operation done

I had this operation done 2 and a half years ago when I was 21. It's really a painless and fas procedure that only takes about 15 minutes for both eyes. What first is put a lot of eye drops to sterilize the eye dilate your pupils and to anestethize the eye. They put that contraption that you see to keep the eye open then they put the circular object to hold the eye in place then they mark with a special ink places in the cornea so once they put the flap back they know it's in its proper place. Finally they take the micrkeratome to cut the cornea and then they activate the laser. Once done they put the cornea back in place and you're done. The only uncomfortable part of the operation was the bed I was getting operated on that had something weird on the back of my neck and also the smell of burning flesh once the laser started working, besides that there's no pain just the weird feeling of seeing some strange contraption in your eye.

    • Cost/Vision

In my country the surgery isn't expensive, almost US$ 1500. Addionally, the medical insurance cover this type of surgery.
I had Myopia and Astigmatism (4.25 Left eye and 3.5 Right Eye), and today I don't need glasses. I see almost 20/20.

In the UK here it costs around £3000. I still think that is basically peanuts for your eyes. You are lucky you are in the USA. Thats lunch money.

    • Cost

In USA in more expensive than US$1500. The surgery was made in Venezuela, exactlly in a "Centro Médico Docente la Trinidad" in Caracas. They receive a lot of foreigners that want to make the surgery, basicly for the cost. This place is a very good clinic and with very profesional doctors.

Were you awake during the surgery? And it seriously didn't hurt?

By mjm2k5 1158046701 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Hurt???

No, it doesn't hurt... They use local anaesthetic (drops in the eye), and for some patients give on the previous hours of the surgery a medicament to calm down nerves.... Yes I was awake in the surgery that is because they use some medicaments to calm down the patient.
After the surgery they recommend to sleep in a low light room. The sensation after the surgery is to have sand into the eyes.

They recommend to rest in a light room after the surgery for a day. Not reading, watch TV, any activity that implies to use your eyes.
The sensation after the surgery is to have sand into your eyes. They put a transparent protection in order to avoid that accidentally you could rub your eyes.
