Amazing Ladder Climbing Contest

these are the guys I want to see when I'm stuck on the 3rd floor of a burning building

that's a great contest for show, but in real life they don't go that fast. they are wearing their heavy duty equipment that's fire retardent, plus their axes to break down walls & things to get through to save people once they are inside. i know this because my dad used to be a fireman & worked his way up to fire marshall. nobody just runs into a burning building like that. the fire captain has to approve e-thing before those guys rush in a burning building. they gotta know what kinda fire is burning, etc., wood, gas, chemicals, or whatever - so they know what they are dealing with first. that's what the hoses are for. sometimes a fire is too dangerous to go into & they just have to let it run it's course its' course & burn out & all they can do is maintain it to the area it occupies so it does not get any bigger.

Of course it was staged it was a race.

Whether there are hooks on the ladder or not, I would like to see any of us climb, ANYTHING for that matter, as fast as they did! I am definitely with the first guy... all firefighters should be required to climb a ladder this fast!
