ur 100% correct. its just a pilot doing exactly what he was trained to do in an emergency like this. no miracle.

Thicker ice would have shredded the plane from below. Killing people on impact, or dumping them under the plane into the river with fuel leaking out, or the plane could have exploded when the fuel tanks ruptured, or the plane would have sunken completely.

Thicker ice would have definitely caused more fatalities.

I'd say that is true but, I guess you have to be religious to believe in miracles right? After all a miracle is defined a visible interruption of the laws of nature. Something that can only be explained by divine intervention. A divine intervention being seen as an act of God. Not 100% sure of the definitions.

Yes things could have gone a lot worse, but the fact of the matter is the people were lucky they were under the hands of a skilled pilot who knew what he was doing. No Miracle here, just man good at what he does.

another awesome bit of luck: a couple of days later there was a lot of ice on river, wouldn't that have damaged the plane more?
