    i hate to burst everyone's bubble, but that is a sperm whale, not a blue whale. someone mentioned that he thought the blue whale's mouth would be bigger than that, and he's right. a sperm whale is a toothed whale, and eats fish and squid. a blue whale is a baleen (or balleen?) whale and filters ocean water to eat krill and plankton.
    either way, though, this is a beautiful video of an impressive animal.
    and i'm sorry if i sound like a know-it-all. i swear i'm not, but i had a book of whales when i was a kid, and my freakish memory captured bits and pieces.

      I guess you're right, blue whales do eat little animals. I know that I have read in books where they claimed the spem whale is the largest carnivore. Maybe they meant the largest animal that actively hunts down and kills it's prey, which is what I thought carnivore meant.

      Technically, Orcas are in the dolphin family--and the largest member of it. The dumb name "killer whale" was just coined by some dipsh*t because Orcas hunt and "kill" prey.

      Blues are the largest whale and Sperms are the largest TOOTHED whale and are carnivores. They can grow to up to 80 feet even and many have circular scars from battling the giant squids in very deep waters.

      Sperm whales hunt down, kill, and eat giant squid. That makes them a carnivore. Orcas grow to about 35 feet tops, Sperm whales get to over 50 feet.
      That makes Sperm Whales the largest carnivores.

      the reason its called a sperm whale is that when they caught the first one and cut it open, loads of sticky white liquid (wax) poured out of its head. they thought it look like semen so they called it a sperm whale. rhino's don't have wax in their heads...

    Umm. this is a sperm whale, not a blue whale. You can tell from two details. First, look at the jawline, and you'll see teeth. Sperm whales have them, blue whales don't. Second, look at the approach toprey. Blue whales turn on their sides to feed on krill close to the surface; sperm whales approach prey by ambush from the bottom
