      Well that maybe correct but why should I have to pay for her treatment when she develops emphysema or lung cancer or just bronchitis or asthma.?
      Plus when she breathes out her noxious fumes why should I have to breathe it in and suffer secondary smoking? her freedom of choice gives me cancer? Sorry but if she really insists on smoking she should do it in a closed filtered atmosphere... like the moon.

      Freedom of choice should end right there.
      Other drugs kill people faster, cigarettes slower. It still kills you.
      Remember, any smoker that uses freedom of choice to defend it is addicted to it. Just like any drug user would (At least they're not killing us with their stuff).

      your point, but if someone smoking directly in front of you is bothersome, it is your CHOICE to stay there or move somewhere else. If you choose to stay where you are, then don't bitch about it.

      Smoking is already prohibited in restaurants and alot of bars. Do you want it to be against the law to smoke in public too? Public meaning, open to ALL people.

      If you ask me, you have a better chance of getting a cancer from eating processed foods, fruit covered in pesticides, and steroid injected animals. Just food for thought.

      Here in Quebec .. no smoking ANYWHERE, not even outside in a bistro style restaurant.. bingo halls, casino.. pubs.. Smokers have to smoke at least 50' from office buildings which puts them right smack in the middle of a blvd. or street ! We mean business...

    I am a former smoker. It took me almost 3 years to quit, yet Katrina make me think a little differently and helped me go from 2 packs a day to socially smoking cigars when the time is good for relaxation.
    But for companies like R.J. Reynolds to advertise their campaigns against their own products, how do you keep people buying?
    Simply by raising the one thing that keeps people addicted. Read the papers as of lately and you will see that they have raised all brands of cigarettes including KOOL, Winston and of course Marlboro's nicotine levels over 25% in the past 2 years.
    SO.. Judas amongst thine saints?
    Choosing to quit is a great thing. Quitting because of assclown people bitching about it... is another thing. Called vengence.

    i do smoke. and here its not forbiden in restaurants and stuff, but i dont smoke there. its a matter os respect for other ppl. its kind a shitty if you are eating the best steak in town and someone is cutting the mood with smoke.
    i totally agree with the new laws about smoking in public places. and i smoke.
    what i dont understant is how can american ppl judge ppl who smokes... america is one of the countries that rejected the kyoto project in order to make a healthier (i guess its written that way) world for all. so, wot they are tryin to say is that we cant smoke, but that a industrie can produce the smoke they want? and launch it to the air without any treatment? okay...

      Good point. Most of the people here are concentrating on smokers, deseases, restaurants. Why not shift the subject on the industry and lobby around te governments?! If there are so much negative points about smoking, shouldn't it be banned and factories closed?
