The legend of martial arts in an an amazing interview.
Martial Art is within oneself. It's defined with your own style on how you develop yourself.
By bruceleebrother 1111715730 Reply Spam [+20] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHe was so ahead of his time in the way he thought of Martial Arts, all MMA fighters owe a debt to his revolutionary concepts. Indeed Martial Arts would of not taken off here in the states like it did if it weren't for him, and certainly MMA organizations like UFC wouldn't exist without his influence.
He is in Time's list of the most influential of the 20th century for a reason......He will be missed by many, but forgotten by none.
I believe finding one's self is to dedicate time to his or hers physical ability daliy in order to discover one's limitations and exceed that level to the next.Bruce lee did that, and thats why I nominate him to be the best martial artist of all time.

Actually, now that I think about, Lee would be the master in the Matrix too.
It is funny you say that. While the Wachowski brothers were writing the script for the Matrix, their first choice to play Neo was Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee. As we know, tragedy struck and we never got to see it. He would of made a better Neo too...

By SuavePro 1184478506 Reply Spam [+5] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSomeone here said Bruce would be hopeless against a grappler. Bruce didn't compete for one reason and one alone. Martial Arts was not a way of making money to him, not a way to prove himself above others. It was achieving enlightenment through the body and the mind connection. His philosophy, his dedication and his integrity are what made him a great man. He had less than 1% bodyfat. But he did not compete. Martial Arts was his life. And his life went into sculpting that.
By Deus Ajuda 1155616674 Reply Spam [+5] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI read through these comments. Ridiculous. Some ppl said martial arts can't fight with street fighters. Bruce can't beat street fighters etc.
Let me tell you the news I read a few weeks ago.
I've forgotten their names, but they are -top-(proven in tourneys, but i forgot the names) fighters from the US take on top bodyguards(martial art) form China.
And China won it 7-0.
Martial arts won it 7-0.
The difference between Chinese Kungfu and other fighting methos is, Chinese Kungfu reads mind, philosophy, techniques, opponent's -mind-, etc. Not just fighting techniques.
it is taught, and scientifically analyzed in class, but the problem is, people spent so much time thinking and memorizing techniques, and fantasizing over black belts that they eventually forgot how to apply it in real life (street fighting)
This is exactly the reason, let's say you go study an engineering discipline, you get ur masters and you come out as a marine engineer, but then you have neer been on a ship in your life, what good of an engineer if you've never been on a ship? Same applies to martial arts. Thus martial arts is very deadly in the right hands and right minds.
most people dont understand what he is tryin to say. basically mix the normol you with your adrenaline and harmonize it. very difficult, but however possible.
By krawdawg 1152669712 Reply Spam [+5] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveQuotes from Bruce Lee's friends about his feats of strength:
Chuck Norris
"Lee, pound for pound, might well have been one of the strongest men in the world, and certainly one of the quickest".
Dan Inosanto
"Bruce was only interested in strength that he could readily convert to power. I remember once Bruce and I were walking along the beach in Santa Monica. All of a sudden this huge bodybuilder came walking by, and I said to Bruce "Man, look at the arms on that guy" I'll never forget his reaction, he said "Yeah, he's big, but is he powerful???".
"Bruce had tremendous strength in holding a weight out horizontally. I know because I've seen it".
Doug Palmer
"Bruce was like the Michael Jordan or Muhammad Ali in his prime, somebody who stood above everyone else. It's not that the other martial artists weren't good. It's just that this guy was great".
Herb Jackson
"The biggest problem in designing equipment for Bruce was that he'd go through it so damn fast. I had to reinforce his wooden dummy with automobile parts so he could train on it without breaking it. I had started to build him a mobile dummy that could actually attack and retreat to better simulate "Live" combat, sadly Bruce died before the machine was built. It would have been strung up by big high-tension cables that I was going to connect between two posts, one on either side of his backyard. The reason for the machine was simply because no one could stand up to his full force punches and kicks, Bruce's strength and skill had evolved to point where he had to fight machines.".
"He never trained in a gym, he thought he could concentrate better at home, so he worked out on his patio. He had a small weight set, something like a standard 100lb cast-iron set. In addition, he had a 310lb Olympic barbell set, a bench press and some dumbbells, both solid and adjustable".
"Bruce used to beat all other comers at this type of wrist wrestling and even joked that he wanted to be world champion at it".
James Coburn
"Bruce and I were training out on my patio one day, we were using this giant bag for side kicks, I guess it weighed about 150lbs. Bruce looked at it and just went Bang, it shot up out into the lawn about 15ft in the air, it then busted in the middle. It was filled with little bits and pieces of rag, we were picking up bits of rag for months".
Jesse Glover
"When he could do push ups on his thumbs and push ups with 250lbs on his back, he moved on to other exercises".
"The power that Lee was capable of instantly generating was absolutely frightening to his fellow martial artists, especially his sparring partners, and his speed was equally intimidating. We timed him with an electric timer once, and Bruce's quickest movements were around five hundredths of a second, his slowest were around eight hundredths. This was punching from a relaxed position with his hands down at his sides from a distance between 18-24 inches. Not only was he amazingly quick, but he
He got some high praise from Joe Lewis, he called him the fastest man he had ever been in front of, and Joe Lewis was in front of just about all the top Karate champions at that era.
Bruce was in a league of his own, that is for sure. His speed would simply overwhelm whomever was unlucky enough to get in front of him.
I heard getting kicked by him was like getting hit by a car.

Lee had repeatedly humiliated Norris during a mock sparring session in the hotel hallway at the Long Beach International Karate Championships in 1964. And Norris had offended Lee when he publicly claimed to be a better fighter than Lee.
When word got back to Lee, he called Norris and openly challenged him, threatening to drive to his school to fight (Norris was teaching his black belt class at that time). According to eye witnesses, Lee made Norris hold the phone receiver up and shout in front of his black belts, "Bruce Lee is a better fighter than me!" Later, Norris wrote an apologetic letter to Lee; the original letter is currently in the care of Lee's student, Dan Inosanto. Yet despite these conflicts, the two managed to set aside any differences in pursuit of their mutual film aspirations and develop a friendly public persona toward one another.

By Sanshu 1157591338 Reply Spam [+4] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei was reading the messages and chuck norris never beat bruce lee EVER and bruce lee has been in real fights and in tournements and he kicked ass . Not only did bruce lee MASTER a WIDE variety of martial arts he made HIS OWN and he taught his OWN martial arts to many people he even OWNED his own school of jkd (his martial art) he even taught Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (co star of game of death) . ALSO people who have been kicked by bruce lee said it FEELS LIKE GETTING HIT BY A CAR . Bruce lee also MADE AND MASTERED the 1-3 inch punch where he punchs some one from only 1-3 inches away and forces them back (seen in a martial art demonstration). Not only was he THE BEST fighter he was also in PEEK PHYSICAL CONDITION THERE WAS ONLY 0.05 GRAMS OF FAT IN HIS BODY (inbetween his fingers). Bruce lee also preformed on many ocasions push ups with only 2 fingers( mostly martial art demonstrations ) . and for some proof that bruce lee kicked ass in 1960 or 1961 bruce lee faced a man named Uechi and WON IN 10 SECONDS (this wasn't bruce lee's only tournement match he won many others) and ALL these facts that i have stated are gathered from biographies and the interviews with co-workers on the ultimite bruce lee dvd collection and not one of them stated that chuck norris beat bruce lee.
By legacy 1137984192 Reply Spam [+4] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNobody compares to Bruce...especially not Jet Li. Pound for pound, there was never a better martial artist. From fight smarts, to martial arts philosophy, to the way martial arts fits into the world and into each individual...from speed, strength, power, accuracy, technique...there was never anybody better. Bruce Lee was 5'6", 135 pounds, and could bench press 400 lbs...he could pick up and barbell with 120lbs on it and hold it straight out in front of him, elbows locking his arms straight, for 20 seconds. A construction worker took a construction hard hat with metal rods through it, hit it 5 times with a steel sledeghammer and couldn't budge it. Bruce punched it once and cracked it. What man his size can do those things, and be as athletic, quick, strong, powerful, intellectual and fight savvy? Nobody we've ever heard of...because there's never been anybody as good! At 18 years old, Bruce was going to tournaments to learn other styles, do exhibitions to show his way of fighting, challenge other fighters to prove his philosophies, and gain more knowledge while sharing his own. Even some of the grand masters and top instructors in the world, while he was 18, said he was the best martial artist they'd ever seen. How many times have you heard that about Jet Li? Even Jet Li said he can't compare to Bruce...so 'nuff said.
And no, Bruce never beat Chuck, and Chuck definitely never beat Bruce...but they were friends who sparred together, studied together, shared philosophies with each other, and truth be told, I can guarantee you the Chuck learned more from Bruce than Bruce learned from Chuck...so who's the teacher and who's the student? Chuck is a great martial artist and a great person, but overall, he's nowhere near the martial artist that Bruce was.
Grandmaster Jhoon Rhee even said that he would talk to Bruce about syles, philosophies and techniques, but he was afraid to spar with him, because Bruce was that good. Now you tell me if anybody compares to that...
So i was reading thru these comments and i saw some crap about Chuck being better because he has won 7 championships and has 3 black belts....lets see how Bruce Lee was better:
1-Came to America, introduced martial arts to american culture.
2-Beat the crap outta some bitch, the bitch broke his back, then Bruce Lee kicked the crap outta him later on (within 30 seconds i believe).
3-Bruce Lee TAUGHT Chuck Norris.
4-Bruce Lee is the one who helped Norris' movie carreer with a part in 'Way of the Dragon' (Return of the Dragon).
5-Chuck Norris admitted that Bruce Lee was better!
Championships-
So Chuck Norris has won 7...I doubt Bruce Lee ever gave a damn about proving himself, maybe this is Norris' passion, im not trying to disrespect him.
Blackbelts-
Who gives a damn if Chuck has 3 blackbelts? Bruce Lee still created one of the greatest martial arts of our time and had mastered a few martial arts in the time before his death
Lee had repeatedly humiliated Norris during a mock sparring session in the hotel hallway at the Long Beach International Karate Championships in 1964. And Norris had offended Lee when he publicly claimed to be a better fighter than Lee.

I normally wouldn't call someone an idiot, but anyone who let's another martial artist name roll of his/her tongue and says they are better than Bruce Lee obviously is mental. There is absolutely not one phase of fighting that Bruce was lacking. You can't say that about any martial artist in todays world. A lot of people claimed that Bruce never displayed his skills in real life situations but there has been actual witnesses to contradict such statements. Example one: On the set of Enter the Dragon there was a martial arts extra who felt that he could take on Bruce. He jumped off the wall he was sitting on and crossed his arms and tapped his foot three times(this was a chinese challenge). Bruce was talking to one of the producers when this was going on. He realizes that he is being challenged and quickly tells the producer that he'll handle it real quick. Bob Wall later says that it was clear that the opposing martial artist was very good but a few seconds later Bruce had him in a lock that he couldn't get out of and Bruce proceeded to bloody his face and afterwards told him to jump back on the wall. Example two. Bob Wall who was the man playing the role of Ohara in Enter the Dragon recalled a time when him and Bruce were rehearsing a scene in which he was to break the bottle in half and Bruce gave him instructions to aim at his right pec and Bruce turned to kick him and the glass jammed into Bruce's hand which infuriated Bruce. There was word around the set that Bruce was going kill Bob. When they met up again Bruce gave Bob a kick that was so hard that in the words of Bob Wall (Bruce kicked the hell out of me, I mean he kicked like a mule) and he fell back so hard that one of the stunt guys broke his arm. Example three. Bruce is working out in his backyard when suddenly a man jumps his fence and challenges him to a fight, needless to say this man got a$$ kicked, Bruce later said that he gave this man the hardest kick that he ever has given anyone in his life. All these examples can be found on the DVD "The Curse of the Dragon". There has never been such a man that seemed to be as unreal as Bruce. The things he was able to do was astonishing throwing a punch four feet away in five hundreds of a second, performing two finger push ups, sending men flying fifteen feet after applying the one inch punch and the most amazing thing to me that displayed his strength was that he could take a 75lb dumbell or barbell and hold it straight out for quite some time. If there is anyone reading this please try to take a 35lb dumbell the next time you workout and try to hold it straight out in front of you and you will understand how strong Bruce had to be to be able to do that with 75lb dumbells and barbells. He had timing reflexes that are second to none. I think people forget about how great people were when they haven't been around and new people emerge. I suggest people research this man before they make an judgement.

By legacy 1137985861 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI was born in 1973 in Dec. Even after Bruce Lee had passed away. However, my brothers and I loved Bruce Lee right from the start we saw his movies on the big screen (they were showing them in Singapore) sometime in the early 80s.
Well, what I would like to say is that Bruce Lee is much more than an actor (sorry Jackie Chan & Jet Li..can't compare). He is definitely a great martial artist and a fighter. Because he was way ahead of his time!! He was able to merge different fighting styles together and form his own style, Jeet Kune Do. He was always finding different training methods to improve his fighting style. To be quicker, more direct and lethal..than other traditional styles. There are also many more Great Martial Artists in the world, then and now. But none so more like Bruce Lee, because rather than sticking to their old form and style, Bruce Lee was always reinventing his style.
In the bigscreen, even now, no one comes close to him in terms of gracefulness, speed and style!!!
The legendary Reality of the MAN Bruce lee is one that will always be a stumbling block for any martial and upcoming martial artist. Many martial artist are often tried to measure up to Bruce Lee, but the fact that they have to think of him or mention his name is enough to say that his glory alone will destroy any opponent or anyone who thinks that they can meausre up to Bruce Lee. So i agree with you totally but am emphasizing on the impact he has had on my life and the lives of many people that i know. Before Bruce Lee there were only about 500 martial arts schools in the world, but Bruce Lee came along and opened the doors for anyone big or small, black, white, red, yellow or brown to behold the secrets of martial arts. There is no name that is bigger or as big in the world of martial arts as that of Bruce Lee. There has never ever been a martial artist that so many people have tried to measure up too. He was able to beat anyone on movie, in the ring and on the street in a fight.

By heekin73 1146365144 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf Lee really thought he was the baddest dude on earth, he would've demanded a fight with Roberto Duran, who actually -was- the baddest dude, pound for pound, in 1972. Lee was a strong advocate of western boxing for hand techniques, and believed in mainly using one's hands in standup fighting, so very little re-training would be needed to make him boxer. Karate and Kung Fu back then was all non-contact competition.
By lazur 1139260873 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThere are several martial artists who are impressive. However no one has come close to the incredible abilities as Bruce Lee. He was incredibly fast, once they actually tested him using an electonic machine. From a relaxed standing position with his arm down by his side, he was able to punch (extend his arm about 18-24 inches) in about 5 hundreths of a second (slowest was 8 hundreths of a second). That is incredible. He kicked a 150 lbs bag in half, he could do two finger pushups, and was able to knock a man 6ft+ using his 1 inch punch. No one can do that. Bruce Lee did fight several martial artists, including Chuck Norris and won. He only lost 1 fight in his entire life and that occured when he was 13 before he was a martial artist. Once he learned how to fight he never loss again. I like Bruce Lee a lot. I have taught myself how to fight, which I learned a lot from Bruce. GO BRUCE!

By tansaujosh 1135181397 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIts actually pretty simple-When combat is partial, there is right and wrong. But when combat is total, there is not right and wrong and anything is possible. The Ultimate Fighting Championship and the Pride federations encourage partiality in combat. I dont wish to disrespect the champions in these federations by saying that they are 'partial' world champions, but I will say that they are something similar. In a total combat situation with no restrictions or rules whatsoever, Lee would have definetly been competitive against pretty much anyone in the world during his time. And as time went on, if he stayed alive, he would have continued to have gotten better in pretty much every way.
People need to be able to grasp that Bruce Lee's lethal way of fighting didnt allow his to restrict himself in combat. He was total and complete. Of course he could have been knocked out in the UFC by bigger people like Randy Coutore or Chuck Liddel because they are some of the worlds greatest martial artists. However, in total combat-REAL DEAL hand to hand combat where anything goes and all is possible-Lee possessed the ability to kill people like Randy Coutore or Mike Kyle, or Gan McGee.
And you have to be able to look at things from a different point of view fellas. Lee's height and weight is a disatvantage, as well as an advantage. In a total combat situation against someone like Tim Sylvia, Lee would be incredibly hard to find or strike. A huge dude can always close the gap and try to move in and slam you down, but there is always a split second where you have the ability to make a counter(or defensive) maneuver once the opponent makes the decision to move in. In a TOTAL combat self defense situation, Lee would have been hard as HELL to connect with. And if someone tried to move in and get inside on him to throw him or suplex him, he would get incredibly deadly and incredibly fast.
Bruce had a 15 inch forearm and even bigger biceps, so his weight wouldn't matter against someone bigger, because Bruce wasn't your average 140lb man. Bruce used to put dents in the heavybag with his bare knuckles, that's tremendous strength and power right there, his size isn't a disadvantage, Bruce's training enabled his size not to be a disadvantage. I don't think Bruce would've gotten knocked out, lol, but anyone. But besides these things i agree with everything else you said. And like you said Bruce would get deadly if somebody tried to grab him, being that he trained to counter people who like to grab.
By smoothsmooth 1145317043 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveRemember that Bruce Lee developed his martial arts techniques on the street, this was UFC with no ref/rules. Bruce Lee would probably get kicked by a UFC fighter in the UFC. But on the street he would probably win. The reason is that Bruce Lee was trained to quickly and efficiently kill or maim. When this is the object, speed is much more important that power or size. No UFC fighter could match Bruce Lee in speed and fluidity.

3. Bruce Lee was smart... he went to uni and read heaps of booked and devoted his life to martial arts and learnt all he could
4. He up head the Chinese race... if wasn't for him the Chinese people... if not for him there wouldn't be as much respect nowadays from other races
5. He looked beyond racism... he married a white woman and taught those of others races and even fought for them to teach them
6. Bruce changed the way of martial arts and showed the most effective way is the best
7. He trains under real life sititutions unlike how other martial arts are planned
8. He was insane when it came to improving himself... he trained EVERYDAY... even when he wasn't training intensly he would still be going at it with a dumbell or some sort while watching television
9. He defintely had the flexibility to kick high
From all the comments read i think noone mentioned that bruce lee found his way of living. He tried to search for truth interms of fighting, which was simplicity. Putting everything to the extreme: mind(through philosophy, found a deeper understanding of the world/life), body(training to the extreme, creating a body of a /supreme/ being), soul(having no limitation as your soul did before you appeared on earth, creating a simplicity that reaches brilliance). After spending alot of time on researching everything about this man, i came to a conclusion that he tried to reveal the truth to people because they didnt see it...and therefore anyone who understands what he tried to learn and then reveal to us will each have a different conclusion about it and him as a person as well. For me, he is human being that i have some knowledge about and this knowledge lead me to a pathway that wasnt visible because of the roses with thorns that played a role of confusion and complexity, covered it.

P.S: that hidden pathway saved me. he showed me what can i do to accomplish everything i wanna.

Do not use force to fight force, just be like water and flow your punch into the opponent. Who agree with pls check BreezeLoo.com, a blog about Bruce and all look alikes :)
Noone has the combination of his blinding speed, crazy strength(2 finger pushups), and his explosiveness(blew up a 150 lb punching bag by kicking it). He would of dominated any UFC or Pride fighter if he was alive today.

take it from me, i study kung fu (traditional), tae kwan do, and jeet kune do, and kendo!
some people understand art, and some just think art looks cool.
Chuck Norris was a student of Bruce as it has been stated...but people still seem to think he could beat Bruce...this logic is not understandable because along with having a deep learning and understanding of wing chung Bruce CREATED jeet kune do...but if every1 says that NO1 is close to Bruce Lee that is a lie...Look at Chinese, there is sum1 named Huo Yuanjia and he actually inspired Bruce Lee to start martial arts...so just remember that when u talk about Bruce Lee

WOW ITS AMAZING HOW MUCH COMMENTS THERE IS FROM PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD. THEY ARE ALL STANDING UP FOR BRUCE LEE!!
Bruce taught chuck norris how to fight and learn different techniqes. Watch documentary's u dumbass learn his history and don't go making up jacksh!t u made up. Brucee Lee will never be forgotten. Can't u see european people just go on a riot bashing up people, it's just pathetic. Atleast learn something from karate, taekwondo, martial arts, ect not from stupid white trash shows with flying fist. Anyways i have the complete set of his movies. And by the way his not a little cat fukn wtf jeese, why are europeans so racist. Don't you watch tennis, can't u see they make noise. The only reason why he makes noise during fights is because its experssing himself in fury and power. You must be dumb to watch stupid wrestling shows. Get it through ur fukn thick skull and add it to ur vocab. All europeans cross the line when commenting atleast show remorse.
DUMBASS= duh his a little cat he even sounds like one

Think carefully and wisely...

By omar1234522 1139511687 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLee had a lot of good and/ or interesting ideas about how to train, how to fight, and how to think. His conditioning was excellent, and he was obviously incredibly fast. When other martial artiosts of any note trained with Lee, it wasn't because he was 'better' than them, but rather a trading of ideas. Bruce studied Wing Chun with its greatest master, Yip Man, and so he became the source for insights into this art, but if you put a Wing Chun man into a full contact fight, uh-oh!; not happening. Chuck Norris was a champion competitor at non-contact karate, Lee never competed at a high level. Show an official record of Lee beating any fighter of note in a sanctioned match. If Bruce's fast hands were as powerful as his fans believe, he had a venue to show it: boxing. Lee should've fought Roberto Duran in 1972, either for the lightweight title, or just to -prove- how great he was,(because -that's- how you prove it). Why do -you- think he didn't?
By lazur 1139260323 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewhy should Bruce Lee have had to prove it? im pretty sure he was beyond proving himself to the world, he just wanted to be a better person, to improve on himself physically and mentally.
By UnseenAdict 1149988298 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveO, and what competition would Bruce Lee have had? upgrade the 1 inch punch to a say...normal punch, and this Roberto Duran would be knocked clear into the crowd.

By NM18 1157772237 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWe -all- want to be better people, that's irrelevant. The 1-inch punch is a -trick- that -thousands- of guys have learned, most of whom can't fight a lick, it doesn't "upgrade" into anything, and no one buy you ever said it did. Duran didn't do tricks and timings, he fought. You are what you do. Duran fights, Lee does tricks. Congratuations.

By Byronlad 1134355186 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeàread these comments and:
1)People who say he wasn't a great fighter annoy me. It is pointless to say this just because he held no titles.
2)He needed no title. He perfected the Art of Fighting ( Te toi whaiwhai - Maori)
3)He acted but was only recognised through his true abilities (Pumanawa) in which he saw the most effecctive way to fight-not the best lookinh
4) IF you do doubt his abilities please do not say poor things of him - BECAUSE you truely do not know anything about him if you do. THEREFORE research Bruce before saying ill things BECAUSE only after learning of him (looking past mere movies - read his books and study him and read his personal written papers on Jeet Kune Do), will you be able to understand a little of his mind and ablilties which we are able to learn from him now.

By Aswome 1132287031 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveRegarding the many Norris and Lee comments. While it is true that Bruce trained religiously, he did not participate in ring tournaments like kickboxing champion Joe Lewis. Like wise while Chuck Norris was a champion "POINT FIGHTER", he did not fight FULL CONTACT like Joe Lewis. Yet, I do not doubt their abilty in actual combat. Lee did spar live constantly and did engage in actual streetfights so he fully understands the realities of true combat. If Lewis or Norris and for that matter Bob Wall, and Mike Stone, only rgarded Lee as a film star, they would not have wasted their time seeking instruction from him - no fighter would do this. Fighters do not have the time to waste on theory , especially fighters who are competing. All the above fighters were instructed by Bruce because he had something of value to offer them, especially Lewis who credits Bruce as the "father of kickboxing"
By 1212 1132265024 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI have heard more good things about Bruce Lee than the bad things that people have said about him. I was born in 1973 the year he died. But i have never ever seen or heard of someone who has had such an impact on the whole world and every nation, every tongue as that of Bruce Lee. I mean sure there are other people like Jesus Chrsit whos name is widely used more than any other for good or Bad. But a martial artit, real fighter that can kill and a great actor. There are alot of things that many great martial artist cannot match. I will los them for you. 1/ THE NAME OF MAN BRUCE LEE that haunts the world 2/ THE FAME, INFLUENCE AND GLORY OF THE MAN BRUCE LEE, 3/ THE SPEED, POWER, REALISCTICNESS OF THE MAN BRUCE LEE, i can go on and on of the many ways he has impacted the world as a martial artist which none has done before or after him. and maybee he needs to watch young jackie in action he too is amazing there are lots of people who shine my friend bruce haines the only man in the world who can break 12 or 16 i forget now pieces of concrete 50 mm thick i did not see bruce do this look it up there are pics on the net !
did you know muhammad ali was bruces idol !
we are all good in our own thing
but i will say he did shine above many
rest in peace bruce
just because you can break a peice of concrete doesn't mean anything in an actual fight...
i can hit harder than my friend, and he is a double black belt, and teaches karate to adults, and he's only 17. but that's not saying i can beat his ass cause i hit harder. go get in a real fight, and you might actually learn that endurance, speed, and many other factors apply to real fighting.
-stoebz-
bruce lee sure is one of the best, but one of the best that was in AMERICA. dont forget that in china, they had buddhist temples where monks trained their whole life since they were little young kids. some of them also have the same ability as bruce lee but you wouldnt kno that bc they stay to their religion and their temples with no intent of going on a movie to show off their skills. theres more to it than white people understand.

By 1127930787 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBruce Lee is a man of Wing Chung and Tai Chi, these are what he started off with. But in learnign so he then developed his own Jeet Kun Do. Purists dont' believe in it obviously. When it comes to him vs. Jet Li it's entirely different. Bruce Lee believes in efficiency, power and being formless because if you are formless, you are not "mechanical" and you can express and be flexible, thus you're true power comes out rather then following a form or a set. He doesnt' believe in belong to a "style". Jet li's wu shu is jsut different not better or worse, it's more traditional and emphasizes more of the "art" in "martial art", it combines style, precision and power as well. They're totally different, wu shu is meant to be used against other martial artist as well while jeet kun do and wing chung are more powerhouse street fighting. Bruce Lee was a philospher, an artist and a fighter, he has mdevleoped his body and mind to a incredible degree which is what a true fighter is, listen to
By 1127665971 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhen you say wushu is more about art than Lee's style, you use a contradiction in terms. art is expressing yourself, therefore making "martial art" the expressing of yourself through fighting. wushu is about a right and wrong way of doing things. it isn't art, it's ritual. Lee's entire point in the interview was to explain that it's not martial art unless you do your own thing. Because he realized the truth of the art, he became the revered icon of fighting prowess that he is today.
