The all-time master demonstrating some skills.
You cannot compare Bruce Lee with other fighters. He was a master and will always be remembered as THE MAN!
He would be like the Elvis Presley of Martial Arts and not just of Kungfu!
He broke many of the chinese traditions and was forewarned to not to teach the secrets of an ancient art to non chinese. It was always rumoured that the masters themselves cursed Bruce Lee and sadly the curse was passed to his son Brandon Lee.
There was not to be any male lineage left to carry on the dream and vision of THE GREATEST MARTIAL ARTIST IN HISTORY!
I'm sorry but Jet Li and Jackie Chan are following in the footsteps of their pioneer who began it all many decades before!
He was loved and respected by all people because he held ALL people as equals.
Live On The Memory Of "BRUCE LEE"!

Also to the one saying Bruce Lee never fought a credible fighter, he did. He fought a fighter chosen by all the kung-fu masters living in the San Fransisco area at the time and won.
There is another story about him showing off to the world boxing champion at the time. The boxer looked at him and snickered, "what can you do?". Bruce proceeded to walk back into the hotel and close the door where moments later he kicked down a solid oak hotel door off its hinges and knocked the cigarrette out of the boxers mouth at the same time. Now who would want to fight someone that can do that?
I havn't heard that story but if it is true, then its just like his movies lol! wing chun or jeet kune do is much better than boxing, excpet some boxers take steroids!
By JKT 1151860077 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBruce Lee put some of his personal experiences in some of his movies. Also, themese in Fists of Fury and The Chinese Connection were based off of personal experiences as well.

The bottom line is that Bruce Lee would kick everyone's ass who makes a dumb comment on this site. People have no right to criticize others unless they can do better themselves so stop the negative comments about S**t you will never be able to do, shut the F**k up and keep surfing on the net you stupid hypocrites. Bruce Lee deserves maximum respect because he tried to do his best at whatever it was he chose to do, whether it was martial arts, acting, writing, teaching, etc; regardless if he was the best or not, he certainly does not deserve any criticism, especially from losers who only thrive on saying negative things about others.

By farthead 1146362645 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIn his youth, Lee had a reputation for two things, he was the best Cha Cha dancer in Hong Hong, and he had a reputation as a brutally effective street fighter. On the mean streets of Hong Kong, young men settled their differences in fights will little to no rules.
He fought the best, and developed such a reputation that his family sent him to the US because every fighter in the city wanted to take him. So yes, he fought LOTS of credible fighters.
It is a shame that he died so young of still unknown cause.
By blacktiger 1113684075 Reply Spam [+6] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehe died of an allergic reaction to a cold medication. Caused his brain to swell to such an extent that it killed him. The fact that he was combining opiates and other meds to stay energetic enough to write, produce, star, and choreograph most of his films contributed to his death.
By quivering peanut 1143365648 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFirst, how could he be a 9th Dan? Dan grades are for Karate Do only, and anyone that knows anything about karate or martial arts knows that 9th Dan's are typically very old, usually in their 70's or 80's. My chief instructor was the late Sensei Enoeda, who was an 8th dan, awarded 9th dan after his death.
Bruce Lee died from taking amphetamines, not a cold treatment. That was so as his fans did not get upset.
Bruce Lee was a pheonominal martial artist, his strength and power were amazing, together with the quality of his technique given his size. But imagine putting him against some of the man monsters in UFC, how would he compare? We unfortunately will never know.
The grading system using kyu and dan is not only used in karate do, but in budo in general and even in japanese games, like go and shogi. I don't know if it's used in any other cases, additionaly.
By ampleyfly 1153348627 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIn 2004, UFC president Dana White credited Bruce Lee as the "father of mixed martial arts"
By allan96817 1147873517 Reply Spam [+4] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNot only is impossible to gauge how amazing or fast he was without ever seeing him perform in person, but also the object of martial arts in any form of confrontation is to send the opponent to the nearest hospital in the shortest amount of time. Bruce was so fast that they would often have to shoot scenes several times over because it simply didn't look like anyone was fighting, but more like people were randomly falling to the ground and flying across the screen while Bruce's armless torso would rotate. Bruce Lee was also quite the gangster growing up Kowloon China, where the usual past time was pounding British soldiers or their cocky children.
Obviously Fuckem Up Chuck is a tough ass, but how many people do you think he is capable of taking on at once? anyone that knows anything about fighting, knows ground fighting is useless when there is more than one opponent and shouldn't even be considered part of the game. Ray Park, a practicer of wushu who most would know as Darth Maul or Reptile from MK, got jumped by a group of 10 or so guys outside of club, Ray was among the few who didn't visit the hospital that evening.
I wish there were PayPerView full contact martial arts events, but there isn't and wont ever be, mainly due to the fact people get killed. I'm sure most people here have seen Bloodsport, the Kumate isn't a fictional competition, The Black Dragon Society has been holding that competition for over a hundreds, many of which in secret while it was illegal to practice martial arts in many parts of the orient, as to impress western nations by no longer being "primitive" or "barbaric", Maybe that is why martial arts "haven't evolved" recently. When in fact they have, solely from the efforts of Bruce Lee. Only white trailer park trash whose idea of a good time is bottling his wife would ever say a bad word about such an amazing man as Bruce Lee.
what about the other 10%?
lol
His fervour and discipline make him more than just 'someone who does martial arts'. A legend doesnt have to be 'the best'. But i think Bruce Lee is a legend because he put everything into it, and i admire him for that. He gave it 110% and was brilliant. I cant understand anyone being negative about him i mean What did he do wrong? Nothing. He wasnt perfect no-one is but he was a very strong person, physically and mentally. And an incredible fighter. I have enjoyed watching him and always will.

I bet if he was from the USA, people would be saying he was the best and would kick everyones ass. Truth is he would do very well against the majority of the chumps in UFC, and I dare say he'd be the best of the lot. Royce Gracie v Bruce Lee. I'd pay to see that

By gojipoj 1156308969 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWas Lee a great fighter? You bet! Greatest of all time and forever into the future? Maybe... but probably not... Can Chuck Liddell or these UFC heavyweights destroy Bruce Lee? lol, why don't you ask them and see their response? Seriously, email him... Yes, grappling can make it tough for some martial artists, but Lee was quite the accomplished grappler as well - that and he was lightning fast - You really can't appreciate how fast unless u practice martial arts yourself
I really can't understand the people who are saying "martial arts have come a long way since Bruce Lee" It's only been a few decades, yet many of the martial arts practiced today have existed for thousands of years... Also, the people who said Bruce Lee fought no one of credibility, I'm guessing the masters of Lee's time aren't credible enough for you? Are you telling me Kimbo has more credibility? Open your eyes! There's a lot more in this world than what takes place in your little country... I could go into long explanations about specific feats in martial arts i've witnessed personally but won't bother cuz the type of ppl on here who think "Chuck Liddell is like da bestest fighter ever!" won't believe it. For those of you on here who have an idea of what i'm talking about, let's just leave the fools to drown in their own ignorance ok?
And to those saying Lee was just an actor and couldn't have been that good: He was a martial artist first, an actor 2nd. Jackie Chan would be someone who's an actor first, and Jet Li, while very talented, primarily performs WuShu, which is more for show. Lastly, i would like to add, it is a shame that Lee's legacy somewhat died with him. What i mean by this is that no one has been able to unleash the potential of Jeet Kun Do like Lee - no one has even come close to pulling it off. Jeet Kun Do may be famous because of Lee, but in the martial arts realm, it's not very competitive.

By BANKSI 007 1159179398 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFact: Bruce Lee was asked repeatedly by directors to slow down when doing moves on film. Several of his famous moves had to be shown slow motion because they were so fast that it looked like a blur and not Human movement. This includes a 3 point kick that to the Human eye and cameras looks like a single blury kick.
I know of only one martial artist that has come close to Bruce Lee in this respect. I do not recall his name but I think he is British and has been mentioned many times as the nearest thing to Bruce Lee. He looks very similar to Bruce Lee in size except he is White and not Asian. I only seen him do moves that quick for short periods. Bruce Lee could do this over a prolonged period of time repeatedly which would be needed when filming. This would be exausting to say the least.
Summary: Who cares if you are 300lbs solid muscle when someone like Bruce Lee could plant his foot or fist into the back of your throat multiple times faster than you can blink.

By pokno 1247549264 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhen I was in school, Bruce was my Hero. I remember some guy saying it would only take 10 big strong guys to take Bruce out. I laughed co I had seen him on Enter the Dragon and thought he could take out about 30. Now I am 39, I realize that it would only take about 3 tough guys. No martial arts is an spectator hobbie 4 me, I see there are no super Humans. Bruce would be beaten by his own body weight in the Octagon, never mind one of the heavy weights. You see, they have weight catigories for a reason. Bruce's skull is thin compared to a 6 foot 7 guy. It also comes down 2 taking a punch and a small guy like Bruce would be crushed by the UFC atheletes of today. Quite simply he is a tiny guy, small bones, small thinner ligaments and muscle. He would be in danger of getting killed by a 6.7 heavyeight.

Some of you guys got it right ...yeah, his foundation was wing chun, but he mixed many other styles and yes, fencing footworks to create a "no bullshit" straight forward moves to intercept a punch while counter kick or counter punch at the same time. Traditional martial art has too many bullshit moves that look good but useless in fight. I was only age 14 when Bruce Lee came to Hong Kong and one famous kung fu guy challenged him. This dude was twice his size but Bruce Lee KO him in 2 seconds. That episode was well known in Hong Kong. And if ur one of this guys u can see who is a real good fighter and Bruce was one of them and his the first teacher of fast movements never before has anyone else shown the explosive way of hitting like he did. And power, i believe he had that power, i knew a guy about his size regular, almost skinny, with the power of a heavyweight and he could knock down heavyweight guys with a punch on streetfight, since then i know there are some guys outhere with abillities given by nature,..and Bruce i mean was one of them.....tku

He was incredible
By Diabla 1151501223 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHe wasn't just a master of it, he created his own form of martial arts, of course no one could master all of what he could do, because he created the form every other martial artist in Jeet Kun Do practices. Seriously, he could have made it so he was 100th Dan or some other unattainable level, it doesn't matter what Dan people are, they won't be able to create the moves he did.
By God Hand 1151443128 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBruce Lee is one of the best Martial Art, and he created the "Jeet Kun Do". This has shown his class of marttial art, and he did have some unnecessary fight, at least in my opinion.
However, the greatest thing Lee has done is that he used his martial, his body, his movement, his speed and strenth to represent his ideas and philosophy of the Martial Art. It is to help the weakness and to commanding for the fairness. If you are a real Bruce fun, you would recognise that from his eyes on every Lee's film. He also introduced the Chinese Gong Fu to the west throught his films. The whole world started to be hot on Martial Art in the 60 and 70s because of his influence.
Lee's "Jeet Kun do" just represent part of the Martial Art, but not the completeness of it. "Martial Art" is not only a style of fighting, but a form of art: MARTIAL and ART. Only the students in the Kingdergarden would say he is the best becasue he beat everyone else in the class, or he is not yet the best because he did not fight with someone else.
Bruce Lee was probably the greatest martial artist alive. BUT, that doesn't mean I think he could defeat any opponent. Being skilled in martial arts doesn't necessarily mean he could win any fight. Size do in fact matter. Now if you would put Bruce Lee in a division with opponents in his weight class he would, no doubt, win hands down. He still is and will always be the strongest man, pound for pound.
By yatyeiboi 1151313298 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removemartial arts havent evolved in many hundreds of years, actually many styles have been lost. just because fighters nowadays mix up a few styles and works out to look like a monster doesnt add anything to martial arts. Martial arts is an ancient thing. Hate it when ppl combined karate with wrestning and named it a new art, something like PIT fighting what a bunch of bullshit!
by comparing UFC fighters with the legend is just foolish! most of those fighters dont come close to the legend in tecnique, they depend only on raw power. Bruce Lee was like water he would adapt to any situation, and if he was alive today and had to fight one of the so called UFC masters, he would simple put on some extra pounds and he will most likely be able to beat any fighter about his weight. Lets not forget martial arts include weapons too, imagin brucelee and mike tayson in a swordfight.

By dragons79 1142729453 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYes there are genetic freaks. Bobby Fischer was a genetic freak at chess. Time moves on. His moves can be seen now to be flawed, because we have more theory. You cannot compare Bruce to guys who spend their whole life just fighting. Do you know how much time is spent on the skill of acting? Or studying philosophy? He was a pioneer in martial arts, but his feats in fighting skill could not be compared to someone who works at real combat every day as part of a team. Who have access to everything that works in a real fight and natural and unnnatural substances for peak fitness, not to mention diet. Bruce wasnt a bionic man. His muscles would not be much different to a fast twitch boxer. Yes he developed a way to punch using his maximum body mass behind it. Guess what:- computers now do that and show technique for maximum velocity on impact. Bruce couldnt live with the greatest lightweight boxer in the world right now in a boxing match. He certainly couldnt live with a top class wrestler at wrestling. He couldnt live with the grappling techniques of the top guys at brazilian ju-jitsu. He couldnt beat the top light weight at kick boxing. What makes you think he could fight a UFC fighter when these guys can do all 3 things? Magic? They have fast twitch muscles too. Meditation doesnt make you do conjure up magic. Bruce would be completely dominated at UFC over the long term although he might get a few knock outs. I even doubt that because Bruce spent time on other things in life wheras todays fighters are in the actual ring boxing. Be realistic!

Chuck Liddel would kick his ass.
By crablice 1146048277 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removetheres nothing in this video or any video to prove bruce was anything super special...he wouldnt last five minutes in the octagon with the current ufc champ and neither would any of the other so-called masters so what does that tell you? most of its bs
By jason591 1144990114 Reply Spam [-2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFighting in the octagon means using brawling tactics and submission moves that only require brute strength that have nothing to do with kung fu or martial arts. If the fight was like a kickboxing or a K-1 match then no one will win against Bruce Lee.
By Dtitilator 1151910765 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNo, submission is very much about technique.
I've seen a 50 years old bluebelt lady doing grappling with a male blackbelt, and doing rather well (this was jujutsu/jiujitsu/jujitsu).
Knowing that Bruce Lee was definitely stronger and more fit than any of them, I would at least hesitate to claim he'd be in a bad situation in the octagon.
There is nothing in the Video, but it is a well known fact by nearly everyone, that he was and is the best. Just face it. In a film a saw whilst doing Jeet Kune Do, i saw him knock 6 fully grown body builders 8 feet from a 2 inch punch. Explain that. Who can do that nowadays? No-one. Non of it is bulls**t R.I.P The Greatest Bruce Lee
By granty 1146953334 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removefair enough if you wanna believe the bruce lee myth thats up to you but you really are guilable if you believe that S**t cos chuck liddel would kick his ass soooooo fast but yea your right the bullshity movies really happened yawn...funny how the video here makes bruce look like he doesnt have much bodybag power ...oh well believe what ya wanna!!!!
By jason591 1146985902 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removedude i'm an iceman fan too but you can't seriously think that a fighter who trains in rules can "easily" take on someone that doesn't. arrogance is definitely something every fighter has to have but idiocy seldom wins....
By evilcat 1148612319 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLiddell got beat by Rampage! destroyed actually. He would be no match 4 Bruce. I think Tony Jaa would whip Liddell's ass.
By uncrowned king 1163666145 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyou are just plain retarded
By BRUCE LEE FAN 1145509842 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat is why you don't see Kung Fu in the UFC, most of their most effective moves are not even allowed. Eye strikes, throat strikes, crotch strikes, kneecap busting kicks...They don't mess around.
