By rossyboy83 1234214101 Reply Spam [+7] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDo you drive a car... I do. I carry jumper leads, And have a knife or something similar in the car. (doesn't have t be a knife either)\
By dontbestupid 1235964750 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat's what i sayd (first comment on this movie :D ) and i was called rude.
First of all Metacafe is full of videos that really show survival tehniques, as startig a fire with wood or even a smal batery u cary for your mp3 player, anything but the jumper cable, that's retarded.
And second ... the guy shows up in a freaking 4 x 4, with a trunk that can fit enough ppl to build a delly. ...
That's what i was gonna say too ...
By alus1onZ 1234218456 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removebut, maybe it is easier if you have a car, make a fire with the lighter, every car have one its less work to do
By pipofer 1234195339 Reply Spam [+3] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveUnfortunately, the ASS (Anti-Smoking Society) is about to succeed in forcing the car manufacturers to eliminate the cigarette lighter in new car designs.
By katmergul 1234251669 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeall my vehicles have a tool box in them and if ever a emergency fire wouls be needed i have tinder, steel wool and a little 9 volt battery. all you have to do is rake both terminals on the steel wool and put your tinder on it then your kindlin and blow. this is a easier way to start your fire
By rebelbrett410 1234743793 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFirstly, no care was taken to make a safe area for the fire; dry leaves and twigs were surrounding the area chosen for the fire, and from the sounds the mic picked up, it was a reasonably windy day. Things could've gotten out of hand very quickly. Also, the knife was used to cut towards the body, which is never a wise thing to do.
Keep in mind that kids watch the videos on this site, so as an adult you should demonstrate proper safety techniques. I would hate for someone to cut his hand because he was trying to expose the graphite in the pencil with his pocket knife.
Safety IS important. What you didn't see is that the ground was wet, or that the safety bucket of water for extinguishing was off screen, or that the limited use of fire was momentary, just long enough to demonstrate the fire method, and, a sharp knife is much safer to use than a dull one because you have better control.
Perhaps you might consider producing safety videos and see what viewership you achieve...
Sorry, i didn't realise this is a comercial video.
Now i get it all.
Grrrrrreat video .. mhm
this is wasting time, if you had called that, i would have rated differently
By vidjunkie68 1234386624 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTo survive in the wild, all you need is a jump cable, a pencil, a knife, and a car battery (assumed truck is not required) instead of just carry a lighter or a box of matches.
This is must the genius survival skill of the century.
..I dont care about how he created the fire. I find it interesting that he didnt bother to prepare the ground for a fire. There was dried grass everywhere around that fire and he could have started a wildfire.
By Rugburn 1234216818 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI like how he doesn't dig a firepit, make a trench around it or anything even though it's obviously surrounded by dry leaves that go up quickly as he demonstrates...
By Eyelok 1234205143 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removematches do the work much faster. And they are cheaper than pencils.
By stwan 1234196700 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI would simply drive home.

use car cigarette lighter
works all the time
I travel in the back country a lot where anything can happen!
It is good to know that when I have a vehicle with a charged battery and some jumper cables that I can light a fire to keep warm with if I ever break down or get stuck in the mud or snow!
All these people who have made comments making fun of you are missing the point of this video!
Not everybody has a cigarette lighter, matches, a working cigarette lighter, etc. with them at all times and I am going to share this video with my son's friends who are avid 4-wheelers and often go rock crawling in the snow!
For those of you who have made rude comments, all I can say is that there are circumstances where this information could save someone's life!
My comments weren't supposed to be rude, but sarcastic, yes. If the guy in the video or the guy who posted this video would've shown us other things one can use with the car batery or anything in that car, then i would've sayd "nice video" but to show that he has those items: knife+pencil+jumper cables = not the most common items in a car, and not a lighter or matches, especialy if he loves to go to the wild ... to me this is just another funny video.
By Fragutz 1234361696 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveMy cigarette lighter doesn't work! I always carry jumper cables and I appreciate the information!
What else can you use besides a pencil?
5 stars for you!
Now what happened to good old car cigarette lighter. That would be much more safe and easier. Really shows that you haven't really think through on this.

By elChuppacabra 1234241381 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIsnt it easier to put + to - together and have sparks at once ? The battery will work after that also, so ?
By pingu 888 1234196404 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeis that in Australia ?
By BigDog0147 1234190608 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removetake your time,,,
By paulocbi 1234190402 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethis clip is virtually outstanding!!! it shows u how to make a campfire out in the wilderness if u don't have the normal resources to do so. great lesson for all ages!!!
By doralynn 1234161450 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou got a freakin car!!! Drive to store and buy one along with your hot Pizza for camp fire.
By Busted1431 1234243843 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou've got to be kidding me
so ... hmm ... if ur in the wilderness with YOUR CAR and you don't have a lighter in the car, but u do have a knife, a pencil and jumper cables, you can keep warm by lighting a fire electrically (in the wilderness remember), and that heat would be far more better than the air conditioning in the car u drove there.
Follow us in our new OUTSTANDING episode when we use water from the windshield reservoir to keep hidrated... in THE WILD!!!!!!!.....
None of u get it. Just because u see the guy get out of his SUV does not mean he is actually near a place he can go get a lighter or matches to light this camp fire. The scene is staged; what u are supposed to learn from this is that u can make a camp fire anywhere u need to in an emergency.
and u people that were sarcastic & rude should remember that when u point a finger at someone u have three fingers pointing back at yourself.
Thanks! It's nice to get positive feedback when there is so much negativity & sarcasm generated at me. but i knew in my heart i was right; i never let the thoughts of others ruin or take away from what i believe.
By doralynn 1234277032 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveUsing a stove... to light the stick.... to light the campfire.... kinda, well... Never mind, I will hold my tongue. Good Video, just the topic could be more out of the "duh" ;)
By Shep78 1234182954 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI've never tried to cook a meal over an air conditioner before!?! ;-)
By survivaltek 1234180686 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDriven your car to a resturant before??
By nathan01 1234183428 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNot at your stupid comments but that you will most likely not survive to pass on your genes cause your to stupid to understand its a SURVIVAL TACTIC. Good luck looking for a restaurant in the WILDERNESS cockwaffle. And for those of you who think you should use a lighter form the car, not all cars have cigarette lighters, its usually an option you have to request nowadays.
By Achill3s 1234195990 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewhen you remember jumper cables in your car and a pencil and a knife just think about putting a lighter in there and bam problem solved . If not that is a great way to light a fire
By supersnoop 1234199746 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei think YOUR family tree has to stop growing, if u can't use your brain for other than to light a fire with the jumper cables (with a tiiiiiiiny risk of geting thrown 20 feet away unconscious) to cook ... your shoes maybe ... to survive in THE WILD to which u drove your 4 x 4 carying only a pencil and a knife. Or maybe this clip should've tought us how to hunt ... dear or rabbits or something .. using maybe ... THE STEERING WILL as a boomerang.
By Fragutz 1234265923 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThrown 20 feet away! Go back to school! Its an car battery, not generator from a dam you idiot. And since your all so versed on survival and you all have a perfect plan in case s**t hits the fan, that includes having a lighter on you at all times, then you won't need this, then again if your ever stuck in the wild and this helps you survive, then I guess you can thank this guy for helping you.
