  • No, look carefully, ...

No, look carefully, the jeeps brakes have forced it to stop and the forward momentum of the jeep causes the suspension to recoil backwards. For example, when you slam on the brakes your momentum is forward because you are slowing down, when your car stops you are shoved to the back of your seat. just decieving physics

    • You know vehicles are mounted /suspended...

When any change in momentum is created the springs are caused to flex and the shock absorbers come into play dampening the spring's tendency to 'jounce' or recoil repeatedly until the kinetic energy that is gererated and stored within them is finally equalized. Getting "shoved to the back of the seat" is merely caused by the action of the shocks dampening and stalling the spring action of the suspension...no phyisical deception involved. Once again without shocks the springs would continue to lurch the vehicle atop them repeatedly back and forth until the forces equalize, from what ever direction the momentum, centrifugal force, inertia, or even g-force was effected.

  • It is neither of ...

It is neither of those. Did you ever see when a car brakes hard, they stop, but there body still moves? This is the same situation. The jeep broke hard and the body itself moved back from the sudden stop.

  • The backwards ...

The backwards movement jdillalafilla may be:
    - from the wind force of the moving vehicle approaching
    - the driver taking their foot off the brake
    - an attempt to engage reverse gear

or a combination of the above?

  • That car was ...

That car was probably driving at a speed of no less than 80 mph in the wet and then saw there was an intersection. He / she then hit the brakes which put them in to a sideways slide and the rest of the story writes itself.
I would say at that speed the sedan would be dead for sure :( As for the jeep they would have some kneck injuries minimum and death possibly. In normal speed you can see the jeep being thrown about inside. Terrible accident.

    • Too fast...........

I don't know about the numbers, but the car was driving way too fast for the conditions and the location. Hope he got jail time.
