This is a guy who chrashes in the luge-track in Nagano. And as he is flying down the track he takes a camera with him.
I do both skeleton and bobsled, I also have worked on the track in Calgary. The luge athlete was side ways and his leg was actually over the "short wall" . Our coaches often video our lines and therefore was not in the way, as the luge should not of been anywhere close to the camera. I do hope this athlete was alright and in fact only clipped the camera but at over 125kms/hour a clip can leave a mark to say the least. As for the losers that think this is no big deal I would love to comment but you're just not worth it...ok I will ...you are the type that will not amount to anything because the cyber world has become your reality and you would not even think much less do anything remotely close to this sport or any other sport for that fact.
By iKickback 1158733062 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat was me crashing on the exit of Nagano curve 11.
I entered the curve too late and the pressure was too great and I lost control of my head. It sent me out of control and I pin balled up the hill between curve 11 and 12.
As you can see the TBS cameraman who was standing on the short wall didn't react and my foot hit hit his camera. I was told later that it was a very expensive broadcast camera that I destroyed. But he shouldn't have had it that close to the track in the first place. He was actually leaning into the track with the camera in the track. This video isn't good quality but the original is much better.
So when I made contact it was so fast that I never saw the cameraman. I thought my leg had been torn off and I came to a stop between curve 12 & 13. I was in the track for a long time until they got me out of there and took me to the Hospital in Nagano City. I couldn't walk properly for a few days but I was able to race in the World Cup the next day. That crash took place on the final day of qualifying before the 2001 World Cup race.
The worst part was I let go of my sled and someone picked it up and left it by the side of the track after I was taken to hospital. I had to hobble around the track later that night on crutches to find it.
go go go !
and remember : on the half-circuit, leave the luge...you can win a few seconds
blame the cameraman.. he's stupid..

He was in the ludge's way
I think the camera man got in the way.
If you see it, it appears that the camera was hit because it had to be too low and in the track.
