good but styrofoam is poisonous to breath in 3 stars

    • No kiddin'...

      ... So is gasoline.

    • True, but...

While gasoline and burning styrofoam fumes are harmful, one doesn't have to stand directly over the fire while the goo is burning. Also, a relatively small amount can be used to start a fire, while camping for instance. Notice the small bit towards the end of the video that gets wrapped around the stick; it's no bigger than a piece of chewed-up chewing gum.

Also keep in mind that while gasoline fumes are harmful, most harm can be avoided simply by using gasoline in a well-ventilated area. If this goo is going to be used to make a campfire or a bonfire, then it's going to be used outdoors, and there's no better-ventilated place than outside. =)

    • I agree, common sense...

wasn't my response to *sean F.* comment. His reply alluded to the fact that styrofoam itself was poisonous to breath. Not the actual making of the napalm paste.

  • Couple questions....

Say I make batch for my survival kit, Should I just leave it in a air-tight container?
    How long will it last?
Does it continue to dry up the longer it sits?
Will it still work if it gets hard and not so plyable?
Will it light if its wet from water.
Does it burn hot enought to start a fire from wet wood?

I think thats it for now.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out!

    • Couple answers

They previous guy gave some great answers, but I thought I'd expand on the life of it a bit. If you keep it in a watertight container that can handle petroleum products (like styrofoam melted in gasoline), it can last a really long time. I had some in a thick walled glass test tube with a rubber stopper that I forgot about for a couple years and it was fine when I found it. If you just put it in a cheap plastic container, then yeah, it will not last very long, so you just have to make it around when you need it.
