I taught my kids to read starting before they were one year old. It's easy. The kid thinks it's a game. You constantly mix up the cards. The kids do learn to recognize the words very quickly. Whenever I showed my 2 year old son the word for cat he would make a grrrrr meow sound.

The earlier post about training the kids - it's true cos I got my own kids. Simply by repeating something in a fun way, kids will learn. You have to understand that they're very hungry to learn anything and everything. This kid might be a little above average in intelligence but he's probably just got a really active dad! How many of our dad's did this as rigorously?

This kid was just trained to remember the order fo body parts. Anyone who believes this video is an idiot. The kid is doing nothing more than a trained chimp. Even dogs and horses have been trained to do this trick. So, I'll give them this, the kid is a smart as a dog or a horse.

This little girl is trained to identify words and relate them to self. This approach is called sight-word reading method. It is widely used for deaf children,where the child uses the visual stimuli to identify the shape /sequence of the word and relate it to the object/item.
Like how an adult learns to read the words in a sentence ,this child is being trained to identify words early on.A good start for her !

The dad then shows flash cards in that order, prompts the kid, and it appears to be reading. Dogs and horses have been trained to appear to know simple math and to read in the same way, but it is a trick. The kid is not reading.

Horses and dogs have been trained to do the same thing so they can appear to be reading. It's the same trick even if the can can pronounce the words . . . he's still not reading them.

The video that someone trained a parrot to make all sorts of noises on command was much cooler.
Even the dude who posted it..... this is the begining sequence from the my baby can read dvd's. He is a professer in languages and that is his daughter Aleka. It is real and his daughter is now 8 yrs and appears on the dvd's. They do work . Pity someone stole this without giving the information about it.

It's not uncommon at all that the baby can understand what those "pictures" mean. Babies have astounding ability to comprehend and combine what they see to what they mean. That baby probably does not know how to read, he just associates the picture with the thing he has been taught to. Still a nice clip though ^_^
