if I'd been that 911 operator and was listening to a man that I knew was in hell and about to die, I would be talking to him, not sitting there in mostly silence the whole time or just saying professional things like "the firefighters are coming". Islam's core principles are based around the exact same principles of every other religion you could probably name. There's always going to be texts in the Kuran, as in the bible, that can be said to be promoting violence and death- doesn't the bible say 'an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth?', which if you ask me is pretty close to a statement from the Kuran which mentions about being peaceful until attacked, and then reacting with vengeance.

If you ask me all religions are good in essence, it is down to the social situations of the time and who is interpreting the texts that creates the religion's image. The Jews were pretty aggressive in the way they decided to march back into israel to claim their 'holy land', kicking out the people who has lived there for many centuries to 'claim back what was theirs'.

There are massive cultural issues between east and west and integration is never going to be easy, again agreeing with mrc213, this war simply does not need to be happening, there is no way humanity can be divided in two and pit against each other and survive. How can I blame a god or an allah since I DO NOT believe.. If someone I loved got mowed down and killed by a drunk driver, I would believe in the drunk driver who killed him/her, I would NOT believe it was the will of "god" that the child was killed.
