  Well,ankin has dreams that his wife padme will die during childbirth.And he hears a story about darth plaeugis from palpatine who is a sith lord that by he had such a knowledge of the darkside that he could save people from dying. anakin also feels that the Jedi are betraying him.so he turns to the darkside to save padme under darth sidious who names him darth vader.he the takes revenge upon the jedi.

- three reasons
  1. technology required. a fleet belonging to a shitty little rebellion and a boring imperial fleet were much easier to create than a grand army of an ostentatious republic and a droid army of a wealthy confederacy.
  2. suprise. when luke discovered his father, then sister. when we find out who his ma was and who the emperor was. all that shit.
  3. duality. so we could tell who was wrong and who was right. because in origional drafts for episode iii, anakin gave in easier to sidious and lucas didn't want us to think that the sith were right the whole time and the jedi just seemed right
