I was talking to a couple guys from Brazil that do this in San Francisco an they said that they actually pick up the the skills in a special school or class. Most of them also teach others and pass it on.
It's mostly craft, but then again, like the artist in Waikiki, it's mostly art.
kudos to 'em. I can't do it.

I watched a video of this guy yesterday, and was really awed by his talent. Would like to see a galery of finished paintings. I think young people today are showing a real talent, and it goes unappreciated because of the stigma of spray paint. Lovely video!

i have seen a group like this in person at a fall festival. its funny how they make such unique art from such simple tools. the guy i saw lit it on fire at the end to make it dry faster. it was a nice pyrotechnic ending to finish a beustiful piece of artwork. if you can learn the trade, you can make alot of $$, believe me, those things go for alot.
