Hudson River Plane Landing (US Airways Flight 1549)

Is the calmness in the captains voice knowing he'd lost both engines at 3000 feet and his options were severly limited. I think most of us would be screaming our heads off! He sure has nerves of steel and deserves all the praises (and citation) he got for 'a job well done'. I'm sure all the passengers on board own him their lives.

Bravery is coolness and control in the face of death. The pilot and his crew are real heroes.

This is awesome! but it's not new that Heros maneuvers are in human being minds, wich are showed in every object of creativity. The clue is to make imagination real. How many heros are in the world!

I would like to hope that every plane, train and automobile has pilots, conductors, and drivers with that kind of experience to turn an potentially disastrous situation into a happy ending.
The air traffic controller, however (who sounded like someone in their 20's) did not give me any confidence. He constantly tried to head the plane towards an airport landing until the very last minute. I know hindsite is 20-20, but in the future the controller should concentrate their efforts on getting the rescue crews to the potential landing site as soon as possible.
Every time I hear about this story I crie. It's not very often a person gets a second chance at life. Their experience has made me start living life like there is not tomorrow:

regardless of the fact that he is so modest. To be able to judge hitting the water at exactly 11 degrees of nose up in order to prevent the nose going under and breaking the plane to pieces was the work of a master pilot. Very few have ever done it, let alone have every person onboard walk away with only minor injuries. I would definately fly with this man at the controls.

The aircraft was a Airbus 320.

i dont know abt which aircraft is this... if any ppl know plz let me know.... i studied only dc-9 make a langing with such a good results like this... an ethiopian airlines 961 made a same piece of landing ending in disater ..... any how happy landings.... thanks to god all person onboard is safe

i wonder how the pilots managed to bring the plane in one piece safely after touching down in water...... remarkable piece of flying dc-9 can do like this becoz the engines are mounted to the rear..... simply amazing
