  Just as there are differences between Spanish from Spain and Spanish from Mexico, there are differences between Portuguese from Portugal and Portuguese from Brazil. Any person from either of those countries would be able to detect those differences by the speech patterns, slang words, accents, etc. The rest of what that person said was pure stupidity, however.
