Absolutely! Yeah, it's common sense. I don't know why people can't see the difference between basic right and wrong, regardless of the color of their skin. It's real simple: If people shoot somebody, hurt somebody, or cause major problems at a nightclub or ANYWHERE, they shouldn't be surprised if they are held accountable for their actions.

In fact, that's one of the huge problems in this country: people are not being held accountable for their actions. AIG, Bear Sterns, Citibank, FreddieMac, Bernard Madoff, and the list goes on and on. We're in this economic recession / depression because people are not being held accountable for their actions. It really makes me sick how blind and ignorant so many people are to the consequences of their actions.

I agree with your general idea. And I do think a lot of these companies were run by people with very few if any morals or ethics. I also think there is a thought in this country that anyone shoudl be able to "get" anything they want just because that is the "American Dream". Which is wrong. I worked my but off to get what I have ...I got layed off 4 months ago and I cannot get any help bacause I have been responsible, paid my bills and now I am struggling....but cannot get any "help" from the new administration because I am not a VICTIM! I have to default on my mortgage and declare bancruptcy and totally F my life before this gov't will help me...and then they will own my a**. F that. I am a responsible single woman....why do I have to fianance irresponsible people!? Sorry you are stupid! I need a bit of help for a month or 2 until I find another job....but I don't get it....but people who are irresponsible get it? What is up with that S**t ?

Haha! Yes, I understood what you meant. You said it very eloquently. Thank you for clarifying though. I am very sorry to read about the troubles that are occurring in your life because of idiots in our government and irresponsible consumers that are taking advantage of our government aid programs.

You seem like a very responsible person. I have other friends and family that are suffering enormously too. And I'm not in great financial shape either. I'm usually optimistic about most things in life, but I think it's probably going to get worse too because people are slowing down on their spending and consumer spending is the engine of our economy. I remember reading that nearly 80% of our entire GDP is comprised of consumer spending, but because of the current financial collapse and the Baby Boomer generation that is slowing down their spending at an alarming pace because they've already made all their most significant purchases (e.g., they've already purchased their biggest houses, paid for kids to go to college, purchased their nicest cars, etc.) our entire economy is going to slow down even before we factor in the immoral banking/mortgage/insurance practices that have caused the current economic crisis.

And because the Baby Boomers constitute like 30% of our country's entire adult population, when they stop/slow spending, it's going to kill our economy probably more than even the current economic crisis.

Anyway, I'm very afraid for our country. I think most people have no idea that we are on the verge of an even bigger financial catastrophe than even the media has described. The random ups and downs in the stock market are irrelevant. The fundamentals of our economy are now a big train wreck and any minor uptick in the stock markets is guaranteed to continuously be offset by more and more downward trending.

I wish I had better answers, but I've analyzed this situation and talked to many people that I know for a while now and we're in trouble. I just hope good people like you and our friends and family can make a relatively smooth transition into the "post-comfortable" era of our economy, which will be very, very different from anything we have seen in generations, possibly even worse than the Great Depression.

Oh man, I better stop writing. Your post made me sad and reminded me of so many other people that are suffering right now. I wish I had more power to help you and all the people I care about. I guess we can only speak our minds and give the best feedback and guidance that we can and pray that our skills and experience enable us to find jobs that pay well enough to create the quality of life that we want.
