  • OMG LOL!

I am laughing at the comment on "electricity is done by oil"! Electricity is produced in a variety of ways - nuclear, hydro generation, coal and natural gas being the most common generation methodologies. "someone" needs to maybe try again - to the best of my knowledge oil is close to the bottom of the egen list!

When I was at UofW (University of Waterloo - I have a B.Math and B.Env) one of the bright lads in the engineering program invented and I believe patented a new battery, extremely efficient (and low cost) even by today's standards. He was paid an absurd amount of money by an oil company for the tech shortly thereafter, and it has never been seen again. Many of my friends (grads from UofW) are mechies in the auto and energy industries and I can say without hesitation, based on what they have told me, that there is extreme collusion in those sectors, and they definitely do not work in the public's best interest. However, you have to make your own judgement whether you also feel this to be true.

Teddy Bare, as for Iraq, I look to the comments of the US soldiers who are there. And they say all they see is Haliburton everywhere. And what/who is Haliburton most associated with - the current US administration. Which US Vice President still receives significant compensation annually from Haliburton? Dick Cheney. Draw your own conclusions. Do I think the US executive branch has lied to its own public about its reasons for Iraq (and many other things), yes. Do I hate Americans. Absolutely not, that would be an insanely stupid generalization. The US people as a nation, and the administration, are two different animals. Most Americans I know are warm, very caring, generous individuals (and very patriotic!). I feel for the people of the country, they have a government that has shredded the constitution (One of the greatest written documents in my estimation), and eliminated the rule of law.

A friend of mine, a true old school Texas lawyer and vet (two tours in Vietnam plus other military experience) who believes in the greatness his country as much as any American I have ever known said the following to me: "our country was founded on the principles of personal privacy and government transparency, and now we have personal transparency and government privacy". Draw your own conclusions, but I suspect many Americans are not particularly happy with the current government or state of affairs.

The vid is funny, mooncat has a wry sense of humour! Thanks.

    Nuff said.

Kesitah. LOL, Meta's automatic sensoring bleeped D Cheney's first name as it matches an insult. How ironic is that!

  • Global warming is a global crock of glob...

The earth has cooling and warming cycles since the beginning of time. How long have meteorologists been keeping recorded temps? For the last 100 years or so? Scientists were predicting in 1974 that we were entering an ice age. They can't even get the weather forcast right for next week. I have read that other planets are warming. Why would this be? Too many martians in their spaceships? If earth is indeed getting warmer, could it be due to something as simple as the sun burning hotter...something that we cannot fix?
