x^2 = xy is not a general equation.

since x = y , you cannot cancel (x-y) from both sides as it would mean dividing by zero.the procedur is wrong

The entire procedure is correct. x^2=xy IS a valid equation for demonstration purposes. You CAN divide by (x-y) on both sides, you as a human DO know it is zero, algebra doesn't, and is a valid algebraic procedure.

The point is in the result of the demonstration, x=0, the demonstration itself shows that this is a VALID DEMONSTRATION to the PARTICULAR CASE WHERE X AND Y ARE ZERO.

X=0. THAT is the answer.

All number Zeroes ARE Zeroes.

this is just a fallacy in mathematical language, an argument that seems to be true but it isn't. one number can't be named with two different letters.
