      Jeeps have a very bad reputation here in Aus for breaking down frequently, reflected in the rapid devaluation from new. Compared with the Toyota's and Nissan's which have a better reputation and greater resale value.
      Problem is all these new 4x4 are designed for luxury and on road handling, and as are such are useless in the rough stuff.

      I do agree that the new Jeep Grand Cherokees are more geared towards luxury than off road . Here in the States Jeep has a pretty good reputation for being reliable as does Toyota but Nissan hasn't been. I know I have a 99 Jeep GC Limited and it can handle most any terrain you can throw at it and it is stock.

No use at all 4 off roading, a bit of wet weather and some leaves on the road stump it, the wheels spin like mad and you go nowhere, drive it through a simple field and it turns into an ice skater piroeting around from one side to the other until it hits something then it turns into a big repair bill...
