Busanga Bush Camp lies on the Busanga Plains in Kafue National Park, where extensive floodplains are interspersed with tree-islands and edged with miombo woodland. Kafue National Park is one of the largest national parks in Africa. The Kafue is fed by the perennial Lunga, Lufupa and Kafue River. As the dry season progresses and the floodplains dry up, large herds of puku, lechwe and wildebeest begin to move onto the plains to graze, followed by a variety of other plains game ranging from zebra and buffalo to roan and oribi. There are resident prides of lion, and cheetah frequently hunt on the wide-open plains. Wild dog are occasionally sighted. Hippo come out of their deep-water channels to graze. The birdlife is one of the outstanding attractions for many guests, with Rosy-throated Longclaws, rare Crowned Cranes and other specials found here.
