A 1980 short documentary about the strategic importance of the territories of Judea and Samaria, on the west bank of the Jordan River. Without them Israel would be vulnerable to an attack from the east. When the Armistice of Rhodes was signed in 1949, Israel's borders placed the bulk of the population right under the guns of the Jordanian army.
In it's narrower point, the width of the country was merely nine miles from the Samarian hills to the Mediterranean. Judea and Samaria were won in the 1967 Six-Day War. If the territories were to be given up to the Arabs, the dangerous and disadvantageous situation would once again pose a threat to Israel's densely populated coast.
