As an animal behaviour researcher working at UCLA I conducted some research into this particular parrot and his vocalisations.
I conversed at length with this African Grey Parrot , specific name Psittacus erithacus, and in fact found the bird to be extremely boring, and unable to make interesting comment on much other than his diet and sleeping patterns.
Dolphins, however, are quite a different story, and also make surprisingly good chess players, if trained properly.

This video was taped years ago, and it is so great to see people are still watching and sharing it with friends. Einstein is an incredible bird, and I hope she continues to give people a glimpse of what these animals are capable of learning. They are truly amazing! For those who are still wondering, yes, she says she is a "Superstar" when asked if she is famous.

I read in Biko's bird magazine that this parrot isn't saying anything at all but they are adding sounds... he is only performing the dancing in the end... someone knows about the truth in this matters...?????
I have a grey (3 year old male) who speaks about 50 words and sentences in addition to imitating any sounds that he gets to hear. But he doesn't respond to commands. How did you train him to respond on the show? By the way, the "Superstar" was simply fabulous!

I have a friend who also has a grey parrot, and it also likes to talk (although not to an audience or in answer to questions). I think it would make a good contribution to animal shows. Here are some of it's favourite phrases:
"Jon/Marc, don't slam the door!" (when either Jon or Marc slam the door)
"Bev, get the phone!" (when the phone is ringing - it's cage is right next to it so it gets annoyed)
and my favourite:
"Brrr brrr. Brrr brrr." (imitating the phone, and then sniggering and pointing when some one picks it up)
Anyone else know of a cool/amazing talking parrot?
The parrot is an extremely well trained animal i'm sure, but it would be better if it would answer the questions first time round, rather than having to have a second attempt.
I'm not disputing that this is one of the funniest and coolest animal video i've ever seen (and the look on the judges faces helped), but i bet there is a parrot out there that could do better, or maybe Einstien could do with a little more training.
