Drunk Driver Kills

There should be a law implemented that punishes drunk drives more severly. I say if you are found under the influence while driving you should be charged with attempted murder period. I know it still wouldn't stop it but I bet it would sure slow it down.

I think that they should - some where - in the cars dashboard have a breathalizer placed. They drunk phuk gets into the car, blows into the tube, and if it's positive the air bag will be disabled and the car starts by itself and floors it straight into the biggest tree or most solid wall. Then the drunks family have to come and clean up the mess and pay for any damages!! Maybe this will send a message to the idiots who drink and drive!!! Just a thought....

I lost my little sister on Christmas Eve, coming home from Washington to Texas. It was his second DUI too.This scum should spend the rest of his life behind bars.This poor little girl, coming home from a wedding. Hell...this guys should rot away in a dark, cold, damp and flea infested cell for his life.

I’m from Belgium and Holland is just around the corner, so I guess I have another approach to drinking an using drugs. I think there's a big taboo in your country and that's why teenagers never learn the responsible side of drinking. Just teach them it's wrong and they won't do it?! Right, it doesn't work like that.

I strongly believe that drinking and driving doesn't mix and if you do decide to drive it's on your own responsibility. No mercy for the young man, he killed, unintentially but it doesn't bring the driver and the little girl back.

I'm not saying that it's perfect over here, far from. There was a death near my home lately. A 22 year old driver hit and killed an elderly man as he was crossing the street.

The stupid thing is that the maximum penalty for the "accidental death" is 2 years! Honestly! You ofcours have to pay a big fine and do some community hours but basically your life is nothing more worth than 2 years (read 1 year on account of good behavior).

Should there still be a capital punishment? I honestly can't say, if you would ask the parents of the little girl they would scream yes. But does it really offer a solution... I don't believe so. In general I think there should be stronger punishments, something to really scare drunk drivers. Any ideas? ;-)

It makes me sick that a beautiful wee girl gets killed by a drunken looser. I think he needs the chair. My mate was killed by a drunk driver and all he got was 2 years jail. Our sentances arent that tough over here. (New Zealand). My thoughts go with the Family of that little girl RIP.

... there seems to be growing evidence that using a mobile phone (texting) is causing more and more road accidents. I've nearly been driven off the road by someone texting.
Maybe it's these "asshole, phuk heads etc. etc. should have their T**s /balls cut of blah blah blah.. oh yeah - and those people that are on prescribed medication that are "off their faces" too. And people that are clearly far too old to be in control of three tons of steel travelling at 70 miles an hour.

i lost my dad when i was 18months old...my aunts ex boyfriend got mad at him and was drunk one night and my dad wasnt wearin a seat belt...and my aunts ex boyfriend was drunk and on the wrong side of the road and my dad tried to swerve but he hit my dad head on and smooshed the car into one little tiny piece...i saw the car and the pics of my dad...it was so bad he had to have a closed coffin at the funeral...he still had pieces of glass in his face...and this was on the date of March 1st,1999...i was even 2 yet...i hated it when i grew up i knew he was somewhere but i hated it when i turned 7 i asked my mom one night when i had a bad dream...wheres daddy at i need to be tucked in made sure no monsters are there..she said...daddys gone...gone where??to heaven...ohh wit jesus..yes babii girl:(i started to cry cuz that very nite i seen my dad at the foot of mine and my moms bed...i got so scared...:(i miss him so muchi havent seen him in over 5 or almost 6 years..i wanna see him so bad:(

I used to drink and drive!Not a good idea,I was very stupid.I learned my lesson the hard way.I did not hurt anyone ,just myself.I will never do it again.Drinking and driving kills.It killed my Grandmother.

the only answer is easily accessible rehab before an alcoholic kills - the illness that killed this girl killed the humanity of the drunk driver much earlier - only a strong rehab program can save lives - everyone loses when alcohol grips a life - i know because i have a son that i raised right and still lost to drugs and alcohol - luckily we saved him and everyone around him by putting him through an expensive and lengthy rehab - he is paying his debt to society by walking everywhere and working menial jobs until he can prove his sobriety to employers, his family and the court system that sentenced him to 3 years of no driving - he has a hard won sobriety and we all benefit by reclaiming him and ensuring that he never threatens another driver - but most rehab programs are unaffordable or are too short - too many drink and drive for a lifetime and endanger us all - my son lost a friend to a drunk driver yet the illness claimed him too - it is vicious and we will pay with lost lives until we make rehab available to everyone with this horrifying illness

if this dude's alcohol level is more than 3 TIMES the legal limit, he needs to just rot in jail, or die. thats all ther is to it.... if it was me, i would have had that guy in a tortue chamber slowly dragging his entrails out of his body as i made him look at pictures of my little girl's accident. that would make him want me to kill him immediately. and thats just for starters...

I dont get it with JUSTICE. If U kill using a weapon, INTENTIONALLY OR NOT you will b severely dealt with.If you kill under the influence of Alcohol, you will get a lighter sentence.

Hi, I was hit by a drunk driver when I was 13 years old. I will never forget that day. The guy that hit me only got 6 months for what he did to me. I had a broken collar bone . And sever head injurys. I am 36 years old now and have a lot of magraine head aches . I still have night mares of the car coming at me and hitting me. I almost died that night . But lucky my 14 year old brother saved my life by giving me cpr. I wish the law was more strick with drunk drivers. I have kids of my own and would not something like that to happen to them what happen to me. I think drunk drivers should have a worst punishment than 6 months that is getting away with a lot . It almost cost me my life.

He got 2 years in prison-then when he got out, he had another drunk driving accident on a motorcycle and lost his leg and nearly killed his wife. A year later, she still has a hole in her leg from it. he's waiting right now for sentencing from the court.

They should be tried for murder and given the death penalty if found guilty. A drunk driver will always be a drunk driver no matter what. They live in a world of their own and by their own rules.. and the best way to stop a drunk from driving is by killing the bastard and not giving him/her the chance to kill an other innocent person again.

Have anyone make thsi question sometime? Drunk drivers kill others, but most of the time, they get out alive. The one's that run from the cops, they crash horribly, but get on their feets and run like nothing happen. That driver should die or stay in jail forever.

I once saw an interview on TV with a mother of two who went driving while drunk. She hit another car head on and killed her own two daughters as well as the other driver. Her comment? "It was god's will, so it's ok, I have peace with it."

Now I absolutely don't believe in imaginary friends, including this illusive "god" figure, but what the hell is wrong with drunks driving cars? Can't we just ban them to the northpole, naked, in front of hungry polar bears?

He also killed the limo driver. So the little girl wasn't the only victum in this case. He really should get more than 25 years...

So many people are against it,not because its cool to not drink and drive but it's common logic, but yet so many do it, no matter if you're cops, therapist, dentist etc, you'll drink and drive..just pathetic

How could the driver of regular city car survive a crash like that with no injuries and the occupants of a limo - usually strong build - be pulverized in a head on collision? ...weird

should be the conviction of anyone that kills because of drunk driving! everyone know that it's a shure way to kill yourself or someone else and is unexcuseable!
49% of all deaths in America are auto related.. that fact alone should be the reason for murder charges and conviction, because when you add alcohol you increase the chance of killing yourself or someone else by at least 25%.

What happened to that little cute girl is more than outrageous and shocking. Whoever is responsible for this must be severely punished! Not only did he take her life, but also the life of her parents, who may never recover from this trauma. There can't be sth more tragic in this world than losing your child forever.

This would never happen if the man was stoned and not drunk. Alcohol is far more dangerous then pot and probably should not be legal. When a person becomes intoxicated to the point where he/she has lost control of themselves and gets behind the wheel of a car, things like this can happen. And even a normaly good human being can kill someone.

I can not be angry at the driver. Now before you jump all over me for saying such a contraversial opinion, allow me to explain. If the man is so drunk that he is unable to drive, his judgement is so impaired he is also unable to face the reality that he is too drunk to drive. I do not blame him, for he did not know what he was doing. How can you blame someone who is menbtally disabled to the point that he does not realize his disability. Simply put, you can't.
The solution to the problem is to put electonics in the vehicle that would disable the ignition if the occupant is intoxicated. Those devices exist and if installed in all vehicles would not only save lives but would save the millions of dollars spent annually on legal costs and other related costs regarding drunk driving.
Its time to help people by preventing them from driving when they are not able to.
