    you know when this haphazhapens and rambo has to cut his gear -- i thought i could hear people saying go and he did and thats why he and all the rest lived- right?

    looks like one guy hesitated it tossing the guys relase for him ( am just a newbe but i don't realy like RSL i think you call it. seems to limit more options than it gives

  • You guys speak as if you knew everything...

    First, this happened at the WFFC, last year.
    Second, it's not very uncommon that the Pilot Chute escapes the BOC if the rig is old / the PC wasn't adequatedly fitted into the BOC.
    Thirdly, he couldn't cut away so fast because the forces acting on the cutaway cable thru the cutaway loop were probably too strong, and he had a hard pull, anyway, he DID cut away and landed safely on his reserve.
    The airplane didn't crash.
    Nobody was hurt.

    The guy said "let me go first" and the guy who tried to grab the guy who's chute opened screamed "Your chute deployed, get in!!!" (meaning "get back in the plane"). And then the camera guy jumped?? that was weird. btw I dont really think he died, I think the pilot landed the plane in the closest airport. But unfortunately he could have got killed.

    If he was going to be dead , I think was going to show the \"fall\" thought that guy had a camera at his head! :) but from there other side maybe he is dead and thats why nothing more is there .. But there is onother one :) he could just simple release ..

      With an accident like that there wouldn't be any footage of the fall because everyone would jump out of the plane. As i mentioned before the piolot would even jump if it was bad enough

  • He's alive and fine

    After all of the other jumpers were out of the plane all he would have to do is release his main chute and pull his reserve. Sky Divers are trained for things like this before they're even allowed up in the plane for the first time.

      This is a serious type of accident, I have read a report of this happening and the plane actually crashed. The pilot even jumped out, however I think in that accident the jumper actually hit the tail.

    I believe they have spare parachutes nowadays, if one fails, there's still another. Still, you can see the guy with the camera that launched out of the plane immedietely to try and catch him, they probably spent the whole time trying to catch him so they can both land together.

    The guy whose chute deployed was killed...
    If I can find the link I'll post another comment.
    It also casued the plane to crash.
    The pilot only just got out and deployed his chute at minimum height.

      I saw this whole thing on Spike Tv. The guy uses his reserve and there's helmet cam footage all the way down. The stuck chute disintegrates and doesn't make the plane crash. What a jerk you are.

    I fancy that it could be a new type of extreme sport,

    Tie your self to the tail with a long piece of rope,
    Wait for the plane to take off and get to altitude,
    Chuck your self out of the door with a pair of skates on and a small chute to cause a bit of drag,
    land on the runway with your chute deployed and your skates on.

    Marks are awarded out of 10 for style and finese when in th air and upon landing.

    • 'cutting away"

      'Cutting away' is the term used to disconnect the main chute so it doesnt entangle with the reserve when the reserve comes out. (it isn't really 'cut' just disconnected.

      Our skygod here waited a bit till he stopped spinning, 'cut away' his main and after getting stable in his freefall, deployed his reserve.

      He was at 14,000 ft, he had all the time in the world to make sure he was safe. The real danger would be for him to damagethe control surfaces on the plane.
