The original advert was voted No:2 in the Top 100 ads - alas I don't have a copy but this is a spin off ad including the Martian Cat !!

    does it taste as good today, or have the manufacturers had to take all the tasty chemicals out?

      The ads were first shown in 1974 so you were about 6 or 7 then !! Apparently they have modified the contents yes - they claim to use 99% potato and sell 140 million servings a year.
      There was a whole family of Martians including a dog and cat laughing at Earth People boiling potatoes ! . The original script was.......
      On your last trip, did you see what the earth people eat ?
      They eat a great many of these (potato)....they peel them with their metal knives...they boil them for twenty of their minutes and then they smash them all to bits (Martians fall about laughing uncontrollably)
      Clearly they are a most primitive people !
