  • indoctrination/brainwashing

yes very beautiful and the religion is a very beautiful one as well, lets pray that this person isnt indoctrinated to the extreme side where he feels he has to strap a bomb to his body to blow up innocents

    • That is not right

if you understand Islam, you will know that is not right to blow up yourself and kill innocent people. Just go out of the Muslim countries and don't kill the Muslim in their own countries, so they have no other choice defending themselves and the extremists would have the big chance to distribute their extremisms.

    • Well unless...

Unless they are hindus, buddhists, animists etc. Christians, Jews, and Zoroastrians should only be enslaved. That is what the Quran says, is it not?

By Sceptic2000 1181380741 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Yes

I do, and I know these two topics are extremely sensitive and often deter people from Islam, but what people donot realise is, that Islam is a complete way of life rather than merely a religion

Apostasy is considered the same as treason, a person who openly rejects the Islamic faith and works against the Islamic state causing mayhem is punished in the same way that a person who betrays his country and helps its enemy against it

However if someone choses to leave the Islamic faith privately, seeking no publicity for his act and not undermining the state, he/she are not punished at all (Except in the day of Judgement).

    • ok thank you for that

Verse 9:5 is a continuation of a dialougue starting form 9:1 and carrying out throughout this chapter (al tauba: repentance), you should reach at least the first 6 verses of this chapter to understand the first part of the dialougue. (Idealy you should read the whole chapter to get the complete image),

In summarry the first 6 verses say: Fight those who have betrayed their treaty with you (In time of war) but do not fight those who kept their treaty)

By motheman 1181228089 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • And those who have no treaty and.,

in any case, Muslims are not gound by treaties with idolaters, and..
9:3 And a proclamation from Allah and His messenger to all men on the day of the Greater Pilgrimage that Allah is free from obligation to the idolaters, and (so is) His messenger. So, if ye repent, it will be better for you; but if ye are averse, then know that ye cannot escape Allah. Give tidings (O Muhammad) of a painful doom to those who disbelieve,

    • and....

9:5 Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

9:29 Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.
which seems to make clear that "people of the book" who don't believe in Allah and don't follow all Quranic rules, and don't accept Islam are in DEEP doo doo!

explained verse 9:5 refer back to my first reply to you (7th of June)

By motheman 1181293030 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • This verse doen't mean

that Muslims are not bound by treaties with the Idolters, It means that God and his messengers have now fully conveyed the message of truth and now they have no obligation towards those who chose not to follow the truth as it has been made clear to them. (This verse was revealed towards the end of prophet Muhammed's life and prophethood)
Muslims are DEFINITELY allowed to have treaties with non-muslims (verse 8:61 couldn't be any clearer).
And those who hold no treaties with Muslims, God does not only order us to make peace with them but to have positive relations with them for mutual benefit (verse 60:8)

By motheman 1181292848 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • What other obligation

could they no longer have, other than that by formerly entered into treaty? Are you suggesting that Muslims are under no obligation "towards those who chose not to follow the truth" whatsoever (i.e. they can treat them as non-human)?
9:1 Freedom from obligation (is proclaimed) from Allah and His messenger toward those of the idolaters with whom ye made a treaty.

    • Again

I urge you to read upto the 4rth verse in this chapter

9:4 But excepted shall be -from among those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God - [people] with whom you [O believers] have made a covenant and who thereafter have in no wise failed to fulfil their obligations towards you, and neither have aided anyone against you: observe, then, your covenant with them until the end of the term agreed with them. [5] Verily, God loves those who are conscious of Him.

By motheman 1181375088 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • So

there's a really narrowly defined group of non-believers whom Muslims were enjoined not to put to the sword "until the end of the term agreed." No doubt they were plenty busy with their other invasions!
Come on, all these old religions were brutal, xenophobic, and expansionist. That was the whole point of religion - survival and expansion of the tribe. That's why in most developed countries, belief in God is now spiralling downwards as it is no longer a neccessary survival trait.

By Sceptic2000 1181380684 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • No my friend

The norm in Islamic relations with others is peace, there is a norrowly defined group of non-believer's who show brutality and hatred towards Muslims and are fought against accordingly. If you read all the verses that deal with non-believers (not just the ones that you see on Islamophobic sites) you will realise this.
Have you read the verses that I talked about earlier (60:8 -60:9 and 3:64) please read them first and not merely apply your preconcieved ideas about Islam.

By motheman 1181385464 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • 3:64 clearly only applies

to "people of the book." Hindus, Buddhists etc. presumably remain fair game.
And, surely the proof of the pudding is in the eating i.e. the massive Muslim conquests of early Islam.

Islam is a religion based upon the surrender to God who is One. The very name of the religion, al-islam in Arabic, means at once submission and peace, for it is in submitting to God's Will that human beings gain peace in their lives in this world and in the hereafter. The message of Islam concerns God, who in Arabic is called Allah, and it addresses itself to humanity's most profound nature. It concerns men and women as they were created by God--not as fallen beings. Islam therefore considers itself to be not an innovation but a reassertion of the universal truth of all revelation which is God's Oneness.

  • verse 9:29

deals with a lot of issues. Firstly it must be said, and this is a well known rule in Islam, that no one verse can be taken seperatly when dealing with an issue, It must be put into context with all the other verses that deal with the same issue in the Quraan as well as the actions and sayings of the prophet Muhamed (pbuh).

This verse deals with those who "Do not make forbidden what God and his prophets/apostles made forbidden" (read it again carefully) this means they kill innocent lives, decieve, betray, steal, they generally do not follow the 10 commandements.

    • verse 9:29 (contnued)

Coming back to my first point, in this example verses (60:8 - 60:9) and 3:64 represent how Muslims should deal with non-Muslims in general terms, 9:29 is a special case as i mentioned above.

Please email me at mohamadyomar @hotmail.com (no spaces) If you have any more questions about Islam, It is usefull fro me too as I learn more about the Quran :)
