Not a layered card, just a very nice, clean technique. Kudos.

second card is slipped into tenkai position as he flips the cards over after the toss. (notice his thumb is tucked away behind is right hand now)

Pure skill.

first of all magic is for all to learn for freeeee
when he shows the queen, the 8 of hearts is beneath the queen, when he turns the queen face up notice he takes the bottom card(the 8 of heart) and hides it in his right hand then he just puts his hands together to show the change. MAGIC!!!

But i think it is a layered card, very thin film which he changes, its the best explanation i can think of.
