all that was very easy to say, but when you need them u really dont care about the rest of that bs. its really not a rip off. if you just watched the video, then you know that it is not as simple as you would think. these things generally run about $2000 a pop. not bad if you have no hearing

It's still a rip-off. This commercial is to convince us to pay a couple thousand $ for something that should be < $500.

We need a single payer health care system where it is all about services NOT outrageous profits.

Fitting hearing aids for 20 years has been rewarding. Here in Florida I have fit dozens of people from Canada and the UK, where they could have received hearing aids through national health care. They choose to pay privately because they actually get service with their hearing aids. Name a business that someone doesn't get rich from anyhow. Hearing aid providers are not living in the Hamptons.

explained what "return on investment" means? Nobody will invest in R & D and give the results away. and if you don't want to pay for it, find one on Ebay. maybe they sell "1 size, fits all". ;-)))))

Diamantino, It sounds like you've been drinking the coolaid - consuming a bit too much of the corporate media that drums the mantra: "Produce and Consume!" while they skim off large chunks to pay for their yachts.

And how about them gasoline prices - with their record profits? They got us by the short hairs, but you'd probably ask us to believe that that's just fine. Think what you like, but I call it like I see it: They are unethical bandits - at best and simply take big-time advantage of the rest of us.

I have had a 70 dB hearing impaired since birth and have had to deal with hearing aids for as long as I can remember. The cost of hearing aids have not really improved (my new digital ReSound Metrix cost me $3,600 for the pair). The main reason for this is research and development, quantity sold, audiologists, and the four-year warranty (against damages and loss, not a bad deal). The high cost is also due to the small size (ever notice that laptops cost much more than a similar powered desktop CPU?) Yes, they are expensive, but I would rather hear than not hear anything at all.

Another point that wasn't made: Perhaps people shouldn't pay $3,600 for loud car speakers that will damage their hearing and will have to pay another $3,600 for a pair of hearing aids. Then again, perhaps the cost of hearing aids will go down when all of these idiots kill their hearing and boost the quantity of hearing aids sold?

First he says that the big bucks are OK (although he neglects the big profit part of it) But then he bemoans what people have to go without because of the outrageous prices. Let's be real here. People are getting filthy rich off these devices. How right is it that we are allowing these big profits while at the same time denying useful benefit for those who need care but just can't afford to pay for those big profits?

i actually work in a hospital and it is sad to see some of the things people have to go without because of the price. if you think hearing aides are over priced, u should see how much it cost to rent a v.a.c. machine fir wound suction. for home use it runs right $250 a DAY. i dont know if you know what that that is but, when you have an abdominal surgery they use this to keep suction on the drainage from the abdomen. it is literally a damn vacum. but for $250 a day
