Why don't you people watch the countless interviews of NATO pilots from Germany, Poland, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic who fly both western and russian aircraft who say that it is a trade off. The Fuclrum lags behind the Hornet in avionics substantially, and the Hornet is more maneuverable at lower speeds, but at higher speeds the fulcrum has the edge. Its all about getting the enemy to fight your fight. So all and all the Hornet and Fulcrum are about even in the whole picture and it would probably boil down to pilot skill.

What in the world are you talking about. F18 pilots bull over 12 g's on in training. When one did 12.5 g's someone asked him why he pulled 12.5 he said "because I couldnt get 13". US plane are far better in real combat situations than Russian counter parts. Look at real life, every time the two have ever met in combat. Two Marine Corps F18's splashed 2 mig 29's in GW1, and the F15 has, well lets say, made a laughing case of the mig 29. Funny how in every war game everyone says "the Americans lost". Well I myself flew a viper for 15 years. I took place in many over seas joint military ventures, and also in our very own redflag. Funny how it is everyone else who is sent away with the tail between the legs.
I have faced off with mig 29's and yes at very low speeds they turn really good. At those speeds someone on the ground could hit it with a 50 cal cannon. I mean look at how slow those planes have to be going to turn. At military speed they lack the computer power. They dont have the jamming abilities of our 30 year old planes. Now they bring out a plane with reversed wings, a design we did in the early 80's and want to pretend it is a good match for the F22. Well yes it does have a 45 degree angle of attack, but at what speed you ask. Well it also is at much slower speeds than the F22 or even the F15. As for stealth I doubt that with external weapons. I mean if your going that slow in a fight your dead. You would only have to fly by such a slow plane and your jetwash you blow it out of the sky.
I aslo would like to add that a lock on with weapons, does not mean a kill. In the Serbian conflict mig 29's had several weapons locks on F15's yet the eagle won. How is this you ask? Well they call them missles not hittles. In training we practices to shoot multiple shots when firing for a reason. Heck the russians have better missles than we do, but we won those fights due to our better planes. As for the support, the Serbs had great from Russia. They were given detection support from ground stations. They had the use of low freq dop and brad band trackers. They had Russian air force logistical support. The even had 4 pilots shot down that served in Russians army air division for 10 years.
So when it comes to turning and burning, the USA is still the big dog. If you want to know the truth, ask a pilot that has faces us. Oh wait they are all dead. As for the Russian involvement in Korea, they had an entire Squad of pilots that enlisted in the Chinese Airforce. They were being killed so fast they had a hard time filling the positions. I guess even the facts of history will never let you doubters see the truth. We are the best now, and in the future for many years. We actually spent money on the right things, we trained in the right ways. We are simply better in every way. We beat the Russians to the moon. Our probes made it to mars as those from Russia did not. Most of the large sections of the Space station were taken up on our shuttle. The Russian rockets lacked the ability to lift them. I know now I will read how Russia is better, and that its rusty navy ships actually made it to south america only at the death of 20 sailors. Funny how just trying to sail one of those nasty cheap ships ends in death. If Russia had the ability to beat the US they would. They know better to even try. They backed down in Cuba in the 60's. In the end it comes down to the people. Ours are better.
I never got to meet in real war a Russian plane, but I have faced all of Russia's top anti air equipment. I flew anti radiation mission. They had the best stuff Russia could come up with. Well they are no longer in the world either. Its called class boys.

It is true that in some German vs. US dog fights the German Pilots did score better in training but one reason is that in "TRAINING" the US will not allow pilots to do some things that are "HIGH RISK" that they are allowed to do in actual combat. If the US were ever to face other fighter jets in battle it would never resort to a dogfight because US radar/radar relay systems and targeting/missile systems can find and destroy planes from hundreds of miles away, long before the MIG would ever even know it was being tracked.
Theres no use in dogfighting when you can destroy your enemy from before they see or detect you...
Thats why US weapons engineers haven't emphasized thrust-to-weight rations, they emphasize technology over speed and maneuvarability.
No matter how much more manueverable a Russian-developed plane is, it is just going to be a sitting duck because its radar and weapons systems are 20 years behind American systems...

Maybe the reason the American plane blew the Russian plane out of the sky is because American planed HAVE FACED Russian planes in the Kosovo war, the gulf war, and by testing them against captured Russian technology and American planes and tactics are superior. Also, in joint Indian-American airforce training the US F16s (which are inferior to the f18) defeated the brand new Russian Mig-27, mig-29, mig-31s and mig-33s in the combat scenarios. The Russian planes only defeated American planes in the war games when the Americans turned off their advanced systems and engaged in a dogfight, but the American planes still won most of the dogfights anyways.

the reason that the USAF became what it is today is due to its logistics support and coordinated operations, not by pilots alone. any pilot, repeat, ANY, pilot would choose survival over fuel any day. SOP does not win battles nor does it save lives, it is just common sense for a fighter pilot to drop the tank and excessive ordinance before engaging(though almost every airforce on planet earth dictates blowing drop tanks before engaging, and during the korean war the USAF did urge its pilots to drop the tanks after the targets start manoeuvring, that was only because there was a supply shortage of drop tanks at the time).
if I got myself into ACM with such drag, I wouldn't count on making it out alive let alone heading home.
essencially NATO pilots can request tanker support anywhere over europe, even without tanker support and given that they cannot make it back with the fuel they got, they can always land on airfields operated by allied forces, although switzerland is not a NATO member, but I believe it is one of the "NATO Partnership for Peace" countries. compared to running short on fuel, a russian fighter on your ass is more of a health hazard.

that drop tank carries 330 gal of fuel. it says so on the side. (i work on hornets) that's prolly around 600-7-- lbs of fuel. the jet only carries about 12500 lbs of fuel. but that's with onoly one drop tank it can carry 3.

Ofcourse it could make the dogfight with the fuel tank on but its performance would be definitely decreased.
I did't counted the fuel weight(max:6531 kg) and weapon weight(about 1-2 tons)
our pilots come back and if they fly a slick plane (nothing under it 4 you idiots) they say that it's a helluva lot faster and quicker. find out how many lbs is in a kilogram. it's not 10% of the weight. they aroun 30000-35000 lbs withoug a drop tank or bombs on em.
