REMY

Formerly known to the world as Richard Martin, Remy is a Dublin solo artist. He began his career at a young age busking in the Summer months on Grafton St, playing in local bands & singing for anyone who would listen. In late 2002 he made the decision to look upon music as a potential career. This brought about the release of his debut EP "Late Night Songs"in April 2003. The EP gained moderate success receiving airplay on a National & some regional radio stations. "Late Night Songs" was to act as a gateway into the Irish Music Scene landing him with his first Headlining shows in Whelans. After almost a year & half of shows & steady profile building Richard decided to release his debut double A side single "Don't Take Your Eyes/Holding On". The single received wide acclaim in the media gaining Nationwide airplay & Top 20 playlist status on South East Radio station Beat FM. Hotpress referred to it as an "impressive start to a promising career for this Dublin songwriter", described by Campus.ie as "a superb debut" & "a young songwriter not to be missed"- Event Guide. The single led to numerous nationwide headlining shows along with support slots with Eleanor MCEvoy, Mundy, Albert Niland & also a headline appearance alongside Mary Coughlan & Shane McGowan at Le Cheile festival Co Meath. Now after more than a two year wait in the wings Remy is now ready to pick up where he had left off. He is currently rehearsing & recording material for his debut album. Influenced by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams & Bob Dylan, his music can be described as a solid mix of alt country, folk & pop coupled with emotional melodies & a powerful, ambitious voice.
